Have to admit, I'm curious.

@Kiemoe: But he didn't say 'console exclusive' or any variation thereof. He said the title was PS3 exclusive in the E3 press conference. At Square-Enix's press conference, they did not rule out the possibility of a 360 version, but that's been their standard line for this generation of consoles.

Tretton did say FFXIV was the only console it would be on in 2010 at E3. Though he never did say exclusive. "
The exact words were, "PlayStation 3 exclusive." Naturally, this is considering companies forgot what 'exclusive' means in regards to the PC.

@jakob187: I know, right? I hate all those annoying parts where you have to move that old guy around. It just interrupts all those cutscenes that you can just skip if you're not interested in the story.

That's a shame, really. Most blogs and podcasts I've heard tell the audience to skip certain parts of their feed to prevent spoilers, if they're even mentioned at all. That they would nonchalantly ruin part of the story for you 'because you're on the Xbox' is flat out inconsiderate.

While the 'spoiler' isn't exactly a game-breaking deal, might want to drop them a line.

@Ineedaname: The problem with the Guild Wars comparison is that you purchased the game, and that was primarily it. The titles were virtually without any support whatsoever and the world felt stagnant, static, because of it. FFXI is constantly evolving to this day with grand additions well beyond the obvious expansions.

@Meptron: Always been bothered by 'supposed to be about.' The developers know what the game is 'supposed to be about' because it's theirs.

FFXI has provided the rich storytelling and character development I've adored for years, and gave me the opportunity to share all of that with my family. The notorious 'Online disappointment' during the announcement, as depicted by kind Giantbombers earlier, was by far the highlight of E3 for me.

@CL60: I'm thinking by 'ending' people are referring to the epilogue. Epilogues are not involved in the climax of the story; that part is far over. During that decidedly key scene the story's last loose ends were wrapped up fairly nicely, and the finality of Snake's last mission solidified into something more meaningful. Difficult to discuss without ruining anything.

But yeah, the point people miss is that the climax just happened a few minutes ago. The epilogue finishes everything else. Avid readers of actual books would know this.

@NickL: It's a shame you didn't take the time to identify it yourself. The series' by-line is tactical espionage action and it fully earns it. Generally, running down the road, screaming and firing your AK into the air is a good way for any single individual to get dead. Snake is not BJ Blaskowicz.

Like many other titles, keeping aware of one's surroundings and enemies is integral. MGS4 is unique in its wide array of options to complete your task. My wife was given a great scenario last night that I got to really appreciate this: She was nearing a set of steps and heard a PMC trooper on the floor above her. She had the option to wander further down and find another flight of stairs, tap on a wall (or knock something over) to get the guard to come to her, snuck up in range to dispose of him (lethally or otherwise), or simply slipped past him when his attention was elsewhere. Despite her fondness for loud, fully automatic weaponry, she chose the latter, safely avoiding that conflict and others like it until she reached her rendezvous.

Likewise, in espionage not all engagements are avoidable. Keeping a level head is just as or more important, and sticking it out will quickly get it shot.

@Euge:FFXI required use of the PS2's HDD. The file in question tells the system everything is honky-dory.
