If you're gonna watch Attitude Era WWF, watch it with The Attitude Era podcast, so you have a little bit of agreement when things are total dirt shit.

Because yo, wrestling has always been 90% bad 10% good, just in different ways.

WWE won't run an angle where big sweaty bearded men kidnap a woman.

Wyatts must be in a bad place if we're workshopping Sister Abigail. A couple years ago we were mocking Cole for talking about Sister Abigail as if she was a real person or possible character, and not just creepy window dressing never meant to be addressed.

Everything about Bray Wyatt's character and the promos have been light on lore, but clearly draw the lines between success and failure. The Wyatts don't mean a thing if they don't either...

  1. Convert other wrestlers into their family, or change their psyche so much they go heel/rogue.
  2. Straight up conquer the WWE (i.e. replace The Authority)

Without either of these things (and that includes winning titles or going on a huge mean streak), Bray Wyatt is a fangless charlatan, and nobody in the WWE has anything to fear (even if they do get beat up by them).

They've had their chance to do no1 too many times to keep track (Daniel Bryan, John Cena, and many times with Taker/Kane). Last I saw they were targeting Brock Lesnar? haha! yeah, that will turn out in their favor.

Survivor Series 2014 was the perfect oppurtunity for The Wyatts to swoop in, push The Authority out, and bully their way to the top while WWE was in disorder (they even had a reset switch ready in John Cena's clause for when it runs its course). They didn't do it. Maybe they can challenge Shane McMahon if he takes over; or help him win and be his heavies (new corp ministry, lol).

LU ep 4 thoughts

- I have no idea why commentary is putting over Cisco so much. Nothing about him has ever stood out to me.

- It's a lot of fun to watch Cortez's matches to see if he's working in character and going easy on his opposition.

- Watching my first Joey Ryan match, and I'm laugh-cringing so much. Aside from all the porn star stuff, it's hilarious how little he hides his cover.

- Cage has improved. Although his promos are still dumb as fuck. "They call me Cage, because I'm not a man..." No, dude, they call you Cage because that's your name.

I haven't been watching WWE, but reading the thread. I was thinking the other day that someday, The Authority has got to go. This Shane thing seems just different and special enough that if they actually pull the trigger on it, this won't give the impression that they're just rehashing Survivor Series 2014 (which, as we all know, meant nothing).

Anyway, ep 4 of Lucha U just showed up on my steaming service, so I'm gonna watch that now...

2016 has begun to roll...

HOT TAKE : I just listened to Painting WithAnimal Collective, and... hmm. That was an album, I guess. You know something is wrong when you get distracted, and look back up to see two songs have gone by. Everything is too tame, well sorted, and stuck in the same gear. There's no Centipede Hz or Strawberry Jam style agression, and no Merriweather Post Pavilion or Feels kind of free breathing epicness to it. It's just normal songs, with a bunch of uninteresting pitch shifted boings and drips. Maybe down the road this album will catch me in the right mood, and it will click, but it was a pretty forgettable first listen.

COLD TAKE : I wrote about the new Sherbets album, which I predictably adore to death!

NO TAKE : I did not check out the new Chairlift album. That "Cha-Ching" song doesn't float my boat, and I'm not interested in more of that. Maybe someone else has heard it and can tell me if there is anything else they go for on it.

HYPE TAKE : I'm pretty interested in hearing a new release next week by this garage band called Yuck; and my favorite band in the world, Polysics, is releasing a new album ON MY BIRTHDAY!

And then of course in April....
