Grinding Burnouts

I have a bad habit of not finishing games I enjoy the most. I have this horrible drive to 100% those games and often the Grinding needed to do that burns me out before I do it. I'll take most of these games to the final dungeon and then quit.

Once I put an RPG down, despite what I tell myself I'm never going to finish these games unless I restart.

Of course there are games where I lack enough of skill or just don't care enough to get grind enough to get good.

These are the embarrassments of my gaming career

1. Final Fantasy VIII

The one that started it all for me of self-inflicted Grinding burnout. Before Viii games beat me , but I never quit.

Liked the game much better than Vii although the awesome start got watered down pretty quickly.

Ultimately my desire to max my party's magic caused burnout since drawing Ultima spells was crazy grinding. So of course right before the final dungeon I set aside adn I've never picked it back up. The beginning of a bad habit.

2. Wild Arms 3

This game was alright, but yet felt compelled to explore for the random treasure. Of course I made the mistake of taking a break and when I picked it up again I couldn't remember where I was in the game or where to go next.

3. Gladius

I love SRPGs, but they are bad for me. I like to min/max but ultimately the optional grinding I put myself through caused me to move on.

4. Final Fantasy X-2

Prima strategy guide messed me up here. Yeah I bought one, I wanted to play this once and 100% it.

Did not let me know about sleeping in the airship cabin until two chapters later. ARRRGGH

Battle system was rad but I couldn't stand playing through the crappy mini-games again since I already had over 100 hours of grinding in.

5. Skies of Arcadia: Legends

6. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

I learned my deck was poorly built too late. Decided I didn't like card battle games.

7. Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

One of my favorite SRPG games, but like an idiot I played on Hard and now I can't get past mission 17 without fatalities. Of any game in this list this is the one I may actually restart.

8. Final Fantasy V

The only final fantasy I never actually liked. Despite the job system and the welcome addition of two strong female characters, the story was just weird.
