i think as a people we need to move past the status quo established by our progenitors in regards to a lot of topics. i think racism would fall into that category.
This is only my opinion and therefore i do not submit it as an authoritative statement my any means. it's of as much value as the reader gives it.
i think something becomes racist when someone says it's racist. i personally find it a little childish to listen so what someone says, and then cross reference what they have said with a former meaning from however long ago, and then to proceed to "give them what for" because of what they said. it takes an act of choice to take offense to what someone says. speech as a medium is not inherently offensive. it becomes offensive because of the way people perceive its meaning. if an individual were to make up a gibberish term that they then imbibed with all of their own personal hatred to an individual and group that would be more offensive ,in my opinion, than a term ignorantly used by a different individual.
simply put. if you're spreading hatred, intolerance, bigotry, etc etc etc, shame on you. if not, then i can't shake my finger at you and be justified.
-wait, wait, oh wait, wait, i know, i know, i, i, i know. space.
