@kaos_cracker: Don't take people on the internet to heart. A lot of people think that since they have the fortunate lifestyle that they do, everyone is fortunate enough to own a killer PC or all console platforms + a PC. There are so many possible disconnects with reality that a person can have, and often times you'll find those who spend most of their time on the internet are prone to having the most. It's really not worth it to get upset about or feel bad about your excitement or whatever. Be excited for the shit that excites you.
@clonedzero: You're in luck, the vast majority of game programming has nothing to do with complex math. Unless you're coding graphics you're in the clear.
I find the same and I think it's because largely I can't blame execution errors for my losses, it all comes down to spacing and fundamentals. Except for fucking Markman, fuck him.
Makes a lot of sense, I haven't seen Carmack as giddy as he was when the Rift was being unveiled to the public with anything else related to games in a really long time. That guy goes with what he loves.
@uppercaseccc: Except if Steam ever dies they'll be unlocking all purchased games on all accounts. Their DRM is not nearly as draconian as Microsoft's. Why do you pretend it is?
PC games have for the longest time been untradable. Steam did not make it this way, cd keys did. Steam catered to an already existing marketplace of pc gamers who were fed up with dealing with cdkeys, maintaining accounts for each and every game and the like. It did not aim to destroy a marketplace like the console trading marketplace because such a thing didn't really exist. Microsoft's DRM policies are a very transparent powergrab and nothing more. The console market is not the same as the pc market. Do not confuse yourself into believing they are.
