I hope you guys don't play too much condemned cause I wanted to play that soon for the first time as well and I don't wanna not watch your videos to avoid being spoiled :)

Even though I didn't watch the video because I've never played Condemned (I've a strict rule regarding what games I watch), I might as well ask a few questions to remain relevant:
 

1. Do you have a list of all the games you'll play over the course of the Fear Gauntlet? The tree doesn't count.
2. Any tips for speaking into a microphone for Internet Gaming Video Land? I'm about to do it for the first time, and I'm nervous as shit.

Why do your Youtube embeds only have a fullscreen button half the time? Does this happen to anyone else? I have to go to the actual Youtube page just to watch the video that's not the size of a DS screen.

Yeah, it bothers me too. It happens if they just paste the url of the video instead of using the embed code.

You guys have a good chemistry together. It's like brosexual chemistry-level good.

The Fizzy Pop revelation blew my mind. I hope that's true. I hope FEAR is in the same universe as Condemned. Keep up the great work guys. Now I just want someone to make a Fear Gauntlet Soda Machine montage when this is over and done with.

As for the crazy bums. I don't know if they're scary. But they do freak you out as they cling to corners and columns and try to jump you. I think what's a little more unsettling is the rate Ethan tears through those guys. He may not have murdered two policemen, by the end of that game hes probably going to murder like a hundred crazy hobos.

Guys, I totally called out the soda pop brand sharing between Condemned and FEAR in your DOOM Part 1 video!  
 
Anywhoo you have absolutely sold me on this game; should I somehow find some spare cash inbetween all of the grueling Autumn releases, I'll be giving it a buy. I would of eventually since I love the sequel so much, though actually checking out how well this game holds has definitely sped up the process.

Great stuff guys. I always found the hobo guys in Condemned unnerving because of the environment they occupy and because they're not your run of the mill kamikaze level bad guys. To me they're frightening because they stalk, use shadows to their advantage, interact, and attack at the most opportune moments. Two of the times you guys both jumped out of your seats was when the AI showed restraint, waited, and then pounced when you were within proximity (made me laugh my ass off by the way, few things in life make me chuckle with satisfaction more then watching grown men lose bowel control playing scary games) And I think another great addition to Condemned is the focus on melee. And even on the rare exceptions you're given a gun, the game deliberately makes ammo scarce.

I'm gonna make this request every time a new one of these gets uploaded, with the eventual hope of them listening.

Play Nightmare House 2. It's a single player mod for Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and can be downloaded here.

It has a bigger fear factor than the majority of games on this list. It's free, and relatively small in size.

I don't mean to keep at this, but I really think this is worthy of a place in the Fear Gauntlet. And I would love to see you guys shit yourselves through this fright fest!

Love it. Keep going with Condemned please. The new enemies are worth it.

Can't tell if you're kidding or not, but the bird on the loading screens has had its skin peeled back so you are seeing the muscle under the skin, not the heart. Judging from Ethan's desire for dead birds, he might refer to it as the breast meat.

Condemned is one of my favourite horror games. Please keep playing it, guys. And remember to block more often! ;)

the halfway decent AI makes the hobos scary. knowing they aren't going to run up and conveniently impale themselves on your weapon adds a little something to the game.

I think it's after the train station, which the level they're currently at leads to. So, they'd probably need two more videos before they get to it (judging by their current rate).

I've never been "that guy" before but I kind of wanted to "yam" Kessler at a couple points in this video. Most notably when he insisted on trying pistol whip the maniac killing him instead of his shooting him the face. With that being said, these videos are still awesome and keep up the good work.

I think the hobos are pretty scary, especially the way they'll hide around corners and just come at you super fast. It's really tense seeing one of them run away, cause you'll never know what the insane fucker is gonna do.

All of these have been fabulous, but I wanted to throw in a quick extra thanks for once again yelling the name of the game when it's highlighted on the tree. It's cracked me up every time and I missed it when it was gone.

Yo Matt, birds have big hearts because they have to fly. Flying takes lots of energy so lots of blood has to get to the bird's muscles.

The Suffering is pretty good. Fun games, don't know how scary you guys would find them. I still really suggest Siren: Blood Curse over(or along with) the original Siren. The PS2 version has some really frustrating stuff in it that will probably make you more annoyed then scared, and the voice acting/faces are...odd. I'll just leave it at that for you guys to discover when you play the original. Blood Curse is much more fun, however, though it still has it's clunkiness. I'm trying to think of some other good ones that aren't on the list...honestly, one of the ones I'm most looking forward to is Clock Tower. That should be an experience. You could try Clock Tower 3 as well, but it's kinda meh. Not nearly as good as CT1. The Super NES one is actually scarier than CT3 is, which is kind of sad. This is a great feature, guys. Between this, gradually increasing presence on Quick Looks, and Betting the Farmville, I'm starting to pay attention to the interns a whole lot more. Keep up the good work.

If I remember correctly, this game only gets scarier. Stick with this one for a while.

Please look into STALKER: Call of Pripyat. It's a different type of scary, and the creature AI adds a lot to it. Ask young Snide what he thinks about it.

I cant fully answer your ending of the video question as it would spoil the game. All I can say is there is a massive twist and it's insane and mind bending considering the rest of the game.

As for the crazies being effective villains, yes I think the best part of this game was the AI. Story wise there is "something" causing all the birds to go crazy as well as the homeless and drug addicts or whatever and that's why they're all attacking you. I'm not gonna spoil it, if any one reading this hasn't played condemned to the end... what the hell. Play Condemned already. =P But ya, the crazy homeless people is pretty effective. It preys on most peoples natural fear of homeless anyway- which I guess is a cultural narrative if you want to look way to deep into it.

Also I feel the taser in this game takes away from the game a bit. I actually didn't know about it until my second play through (I have this on PC and somehow I missed it, i don't know why) and while it is useful later when you fight a lot more dudes at once, you don't HAVE to use it and really it's just a panic button as it makes whoever you taze take more damage while they're stunned.

Anyway, I love this game and I'm glad you guys are enjoying it too. Unlike the FEAR episode, i'm enjoying watching you play haha

This game gets better and better the farther you get. You may have to force yourselves to stop playing it. =P

@Michaelblack18: The main character is played by Greg Grunberg. His biggest role was Matt on the TV Show Heroes. Most recently, though, he had a role in LA Noire.

This series is awesome and i'm loving this game in particular, it seems like the first genuinely scary game on the list.

The window thing was pretty creepy. If I was playing this by myself in a dark room I would have turned it off there I think.

@Lemon: Hey Steve. Got to say, the Fear Gauntlet is definitely the best piece of content any interns have cooked up, and for the last month or so, probably the best piece of content on the site after the Bombcast.

So I'm a huge Silent Hill fan, so let me talk about that a bit. I already see you're prepared to play Silent Hill 2, which I feel you guys should play in its entirety, even if you need to play on Easy or use an FAQ to solve some of the insanely arbitrary puzzles... the reason people love that game is not in the first hour or so (though 30-45 in you do get your first glimpse of Pyramid Head). The reason people find that game incredibly affecting is things that happen from about hour 3 or 4 until the end. That game is a slow burn, and it pays off in the long run, but can seem a little dreary at first.

I would suggest Silent Hill Homecoming for the 360 and PS3, if only because it starts fast and freaky, the first half-hour is probably the scariest part of that game. And for strong starts, I've held fast that the first 10 minutes of the original Silent Hill is one of the most cinematic and terrifying sequences of its era. The music ('Macabre') is my favorite piece of music from the entire series, and the camera tricks were actually used shot-for-shot in the movie adaptation.

good episode. I think the scariest thing about the hobo men is how they hide and then they come out when they are ready. Also the fact that they will constantly hit you and don't really break between hits.

not complaining though, great series duder

I love the first Condemned. Sooo much better than the second game. A simple melee combat system and scary as FUCK. Played through the entire thing about 3 times and let me tell you.. some of the things in there- they even get you on the second and third playthrough. 
 
Oh and the hobos are not even the most frightening things in the game. For me those stupid little crawling mummy things in the subway (and the library and the cottage) were one of the scariest enemies ever in any game I´ve played. My recommendation: Play Condemned 1 in the dark and with headphones or a good sound system that you can crank up a bit. It will at least give you some good chills.
