Will you have a segment on the Big Live? You could do a FGL - Fear Gauntlet Live, it would be amazing. You re-enact the intro and play through something scary for 15 minutes.

I can't believe it but Fear Gauntlet is the feature I look forward to the most on GB, mostly because I loved the Endurance Run so much, keep up the good work Kessler and Steve and I look forward to more, especially if it's more Condemned

Two, three days old.

Damnit that scare made me jump too. All of these videos are making me really want to play through a horror game, and I have Amnesia just sitting there... waiting, taunting me from the shadows. One day, Amnesia, one day.

You guys really should just play through this game. It gets way crazier.

This episode is fantastic. I really jumped at that one part!

Hobo Killing Simulation of the Decade.

Another good one. I think Condemned has been the best to watch in this series so far. I really hope they play Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth at some point.

You found a creepy keeper (kreeper?) in Condemned, but are you going to set a hard limit on how many videos you make for each game? Or will you just straight up endurance run a game to its conclusion if you're both really into it?

I dunno if I agree with the "I don't expect anything to happen in this situation and that's why it's scary when it does" hypothesis, considering you get attacked by hobos every five minutes. It's more that it's building spooky tension in that quiet time, which pays off when the random bursts of crazy monster man violence arrive. And, while not disparaging Condemned 1 in all its hobo-smiting and necro-ornithology glory, there are games (like its sequel, arguably) that are better than it with the tension-building.

Another good one. I think Condemned has been the best to watch in this series so far. I really hope they play Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth at some point.

Best Fear Gauntlet yet, I was laughing so hard when you guys got totally freaked out. That was amazing. We're grilling and/or cooking tonight!

Man are you in for a treat at the dilapidated mall. A random amount of the mannequins are hobos in disguise, and the end of that level is genuinely off-putting to say the least.

This series is fast becoming my favorite thing on Giantbomb.

I want Kessler to do the water segment of Amnesia for the live show in a dark room, with a camera pointed at his face for the final bit of that section in the game.

@louiedog: Well, Call of Cthulhu is on the tree list, so, I wouldn't be surprised if they do check it out. Course, if they check out the PC version, they probably won't be able to go through the entire game or anything, which is a shame.

This is good so far, but the jump scares don't really seem that bad. Course, there's certainly a difference between playing a scary game and watching someone play a scary game. There's also a difference between playing one alone and playing one with another person though, but I certainly wouldn't expect them to play through it alone commenting to no one, it would be kind of boring. It does sort of surprise me how even the little things get jump scares out of them though. Makes me wonder how they'll handle some of the later games if they already panic at some of this stuff.

As for the question posed, not making the jump scare too obvious helps. When I can see a jump scare coming, it's often not as effective. Also trying to put it in somewhere where it's already high tension, or what have you, tends to weaken its effect. If it's somewhere unexpected, or some time that doesn't seem like it would happen, that helps. It also helps to fake the players out I think. If you have the chance to do a jump scare, and you don't, it can help put someone on edge for later.

Ouch, that looked painful. Even made me jump there, I've forgotten when most of the scares occur.

At my company we recently had a intern for over a year, taking a semi-break from his PHD.

Really enjoyed this one, Steve freaked a lot more than I did for that escalator scene, but it was still a doozy. I actually just finished the game an hour or so ago, I'd be real interested to see them keep going, Chapter 5 wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I hated the second half of the last level though. Ugh, the boss fight and the stream of enemies leading up to it was terrible. 

Wish this series was on the main site, only just found it and it's some of the funniest video content for quite a while. Keep it up.

Seeing as Betting the Farmville has pretty much bit the dust I'd love to see this get thrown into the giantbomb videos section.  It's too good to be relegated to blog posts and youtube videos

1) Keep playing this, and once you get to the department store, TURN up the game volume so that the audience gets the creepiness

2) This game has NOT YET shown it's hand in terms of scariness, it's really just warming up.

Compared to this game, Condemned 2 is FUCKING INSAAAANE.

I love the fear gauntlet, I love condemned and I'm glad you are still playing this. Unfortunately you'll have to play a lot further in to see some of the scarier stuff so I doubt you'll get to it.

I just started watching these and I absolutely love them. I hope you guys continue to play Condemned, it's really working out.

I keep loving these episodes more and more. I actually want to see you guys make T-Shirts with all the catchphrases you've come up with throughout this experience. "Sir you need to calm down" "We be cooking tonight" etc.

It would be pretty great if you got all the way through it. This game gets crazier and crazier.

You've only just entered the rabbit hole, it goes much deeper.
