The film blew me away. I loved the first one so much and I was very nervous going into 2 but I came away thinking it's better than the original but I think that the original is essential to fully appreciate 2. It builds on the first one in some really fantastic ways and I love the way they set up a third film.
This film reminded me a lot of the Raid 2 in how much better than the first one it was. I cannot overstate how much I love the weird lore they have created and I'll take all I can get.
They've done a great job at grounding a crazy conceit into a believable world with clear, understandable rules.
The second half rivals anything from the first movie. I loved these random assassins and contract killers getting a text message and taking their shot at the $7m. We even got a pencil scene, and the two most brutal kills of the movie with said pencil.
I enjoyed the hell out of it and will be seeing the sequel in theaters. The action's wonderfully choreographed and I like the comic book-y world they created. This along with the Raid films are my top action flicks of the last 10 years.
This is timely as I was getting super salty last night on the last Riddler race from Arkham Knight. To add nut-kicking insult to injury, the race (and subsequent puzzle solving with Catwoman right after), doesn't even lead to you collaring Riddler. Instead, you have to collect EVERY GODDAMN RIDDLER TROPHY to be able to face Riddler in a final fight. Seeing as I have like 50 trophies of 243 collected, this is never going to happen.
Rocksteady is a fine developer and I enjoy their Batman games, but after last night I'm ready to finish up the main story and move on to a new game.
I'm very heartened to see so many boots on the ground on this issue. I gave a few bucks to ACLU this evening, and will be calling my state reps. The below link is a great tool on who to contact and what to say regarding Trump's immigration ban. There's a hundred non-violent ways to resist blanket policies such as this. Trump works for ALL of us, we can never lose sight of that.
Book threads are always a good thing. Let's try and keep this one alive!
On topic, I just finished 'You Will Know Me' by Megan Abbott, about a woman whose daughter is an elite gymnast. The woman gets caught up in this strange, cultish world of helicopter parents and boosters, and wackiness ensues when someone among the group is killed in a hit-and-run accident. The book is more of a thriller/character study than mystery, and it's excellent at building and keeping tension. It's not a very pleasant read, but it's very good.
Only backlog game I'm really looking to finish before the spring rush is Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone DLC. Got stuck on a boss fight and haven't gone back in months.
How much shooting is there in Condemned? I've only played the second game, but the shooting there was easily the worst part of the game. And as much as I love BioShock, it wasn't a great FPS from a mechanics standpoint.
