Can't say I've ever seen any of his movies, but I've heard his name. Fuck cancer.

Thoughts to those who suffered with him and miss him now.

I heard tell that there's no online in the PC version, if that matters to you. Seems like PS4 is still the ideal location for KT games, but I'm at least glad they keep putting them out on PC. Maybe someday they'll be good.

Probably one of the most toxic things you can do to yourself is to force yourself to do a "fun" thing that you don't want to. If there are other things in your life that are taking precedence over game playing, then...focus on those things. You can put games in your periphery without losing your identity - unless your identity is inextricably tied to "I AM A PERSON WHO PLAYS GAMES LIKE ALL THE TIME," in which case I have some bad news for you.

As a personal anecdote, I rarely play games these days because of general life-stress. My solution to "not playing games" is to resolve/reconcile with the sources of stress in my life, freeing me to actually relax - let's call that a "work in progress," though. Dunno if you have anything similar going on, but I think (a) understanding what you're doing with your time instead, and (b) evaluating your feelings on those activities - both on their own, and as they relate to anything else you could do with that time - is crucial in feeling comfortable/secure in "what you're doing with your life."

No one's answer is going to be exactly the same. Heck, maybe your life would be better served by ditching some other time sink and doubling-down on juegos. Or, maybe, your life is changing and you have something more valuable in it that you shouldn't take for granted. Maybe! Who knows. I hope you find what you're looking for.

I usually just blindly point people at The Wirecutter for stuff like this; your mileage may vary with their recommendations, but it's at least a good jumping off point for research on a lot of common items.

Wow! Good luck to him. Real changing of the guard going on over there, I'm interested to see where Gamespot ends up in a couple of years. They have some smart people doing fun things, so I hope they do well.

I was surprised at how good it was. Some really slick direction and solid comedy (though I rolled my eyes at Paul Rudd's schtick way more often than they probably intended), and I thought Michael Peña was a fun surprise (I've never seen him in anything before). It was at least a "fun" movie.

I think it usually has to do with there being Wiki pages for a lot of obscure games, pushing the GB page up in Google searches. But in this case, GB isn't even on the first page of Google results so I'unno.

970 here, it runs way better than on my old 570. Still not perfect, not all settings maxed, but definitely better. Dumb question: did you try fully uninstalling and reinstalling your driver? When I swapped my card out, my PC just kept trucking with the same old driver, then some Game Ready driver came out and it installed that. It freaked out after a crash (gorram SoCal power grid), so I un/reinstalled and it's working much better now.

Did you try running something like MSI Afterburner to see what its clock speeds and utilization are? That might give you some clues.

But yeah, you should have zero problems with that card in that rig. I mean, it's not like you're trying to run Batman at 60hz ;)

Strong disagree on Killzone 2. I hear they patched the handling in MP, but SP is still the same garbage-fest it was in 2009. I mean...if you want to watch a clip of someone excessively gunning down a Helghast, all the hit reactions are super detailed, the sound design is good...it hits the notes in microcosm. But when you have to actually play it, it falls apart. Aiming/moving feels like you're a drunk baby wearing sunglasses at night.

Killzone 3, on the other hand, is a much better game. Campaign is still boring as hell, but it handles way better than its predecessor. If you're curious about the "Killzone feel," 3's a good place to check it out. 2 is obviously a distinctive thing, but in my experience it is the bad kind of distinctive.

I'll second Black, for PS2 and Xbox, though that campaign is also boring and some of the levels are annoying shoot-outs with people way outside of your effective weapon range.

STRONGEST AGREE on F.E.A.R. I never finished the campaign so I don't know how well it holds up, but the shootouts even in the first level are incredible. It's largely helped by the slow-mo, but they do a lot with the lighting on muzzle flashes and hit reactions. They also use some super clever texture work to make bullet impacts seem like you're ripping the damn walls apart. A lot of what makes F.E.A.R. special is kind of a facade that breaks if you look at it the wrong way (e.g. the A.I. isn't actually that smart, they just built the levels to guide them around in surprising ways), but it's pretty rad.
