I'm pro-exclusive and think that Microsoft has every right to make Call of Duty one. Obviously some judges don't believe that to be the case, but if anything I think Microsoft making all of Activision's library exclusive would benefit the industry far more than hurt it.
Competition is good. Sony having to push the envelope instead of coasting on the same two game design philosophies over and over again because they are the only non-nintendo company with exclusive games is a good thing.
You may as well say Nintendo has a monopoly because only they have the Mario Franchise.
...Very well. See they spent too much money on candles, which put them in a budgetary deficit. Now, aside from cutting spending costs for candles, they may need to also spend less money on food and data, and, perhaps, even do their best lower the cost of utilities. If necessary, they may need to even move to a cheaper area.
You see, whats going on here, is that there isn't enough money coming in to set things right. Even if you cut all spending on candles, they still aren't making enough money not to cut costs. It's really basic economics!
Hopefully that helped point the way for you as to why certain spending projects, no matter how much we may want them, and even if they bring in a minor profit, have to be cut when there isn't enough capital to support them.
@eribuster: I am well aware of what a stock buyback is, yes.
I am not claiming that vice is running like a well oiled machine, but I am saying that if an aspect of a company is providing you a notable amount of profit, even the most poorly run company would be hard pressed to get rid of it.
If the bean counters at Vice look at the numbers and say "it's just not making enough", then Vice is under no obligation to keep pursuing that market. It's a common-sense, smart financial decision.
@curseofthewise: "No actual point to make." A lack of points such as "Dude, there's no money to pay these workers." and "This is happening across the industry based on new media consuming trends"
Indeed. It must just be those naive capitalists pushing antiquated ideas such as math.
@ben_h: Very well, but even if all that were the case (and to be frank I have doubts because everyone thinks they are the most vital part of any company they work for), it still remains that, if poor business decisions lead to Vice being unable to maintain having Waypoint on their roster, my aforementioned point stands that the money isn't there.
