If there's a significant trade-in program, I might be on board. I wonder what kind of framerate improvements we're talking here. If we're talking from 30 to 60, then I'm definitely getting a NEO. The lack of 60 fps games on PS4 has been disappointing to me.
(And before people say "just get a PC": no. I don't have the time or patience for PC gaming anymore. I can care about 60 fps AND prefer consoles over PC.)
@sinjunb: Most of them liked Witcher 3. They just didn't love it. Makes sense to me. It's not like Witcher 3 is a groundbreaking title. It's an incrementally better iteration of the western fantasy RPG. The whole idea that GB should've had their socks knocked off by it seems bizarre to me. I played it for about 15 hours, liked what I played, but never felt the inclination to come back to it.
That's awesome. Seriously. But I stand by my belief that that isn't a common thing. If it were, we wouldn't have the entire staff not completing the game for the same reason. *shrug*
It's a great game, but I just don't get why certain people feel like it's some sort of disgusting affront to humanity that it might not be everyone's GOTY (again, my GOTY).
The staff can do what they want. They are not beholden to anybody. If they wanted to be the only outlet giving Saints Row: the Third GOTY back in 2011, they should have gone for it. (The right choice was Dark Souls, but that's another story.)
And The Witcher 3 is rightfully getting a metric ton of praise from all over the place, including a great many GOTY lists. So The Witcher 3 is definitely getting it's due. The praise is not for nothing. That game is amazing.
The part that might be getting to people is the appearance of apathy by the staff.
Imagine if in 2013 no one the staff had played The Last of Us due to just not getting into the game? Or if only a handful of guys had put more than 40 hours into Skyrim back in 2011. It just feels weird for a gaming site to be so apathetic about something that's caused such a storm.
Oh, and it's definitely playable in 30-45 minute chunks. That's how I played it, as I have a kid that demands all but an hour or (if I'm lucky) two of my time each day. Vinny chose MGS5 as his "Holy shit I have an hour free" game. That's his call, but it is doable.
But most of the staff gave Witcher 3 a fair chance. Heck, I think most of them have put at least 10 hours into Witcher 3. Don't be one of those guys who's like "it takes 50 hours to get good!".
