@spunkyhepanda: This makes me feel better.

*SPOILER*

I'm currently struggling with Kanji's boss, and I feel like it's about to be too late to save him. My party is getting beaten to hell and it's really frustrating that only one character can heal everyone right now and only my character can use items. The friendly A.I. is also not helping at the moment. Maybe I just need to look into skill cards more or something.

*SPOILER END*

So why exactly is rain the best time to go into the TV? Do I have enough time to level each persona until I get each of their skills before fusing them, or is that even worth doing?

I've been making some choices kinda willy nilly, not really having a grasp on what the best decisions are for how I want to play it, and having a frustrating time with it at this point. I have a lot of questions.

1) Is this game timed? Does the calendar end? How worried should I be about wasting time, not spending enough nights leveling characters and personas in the TV, or not being prepared for bosses?

2) Ranking up Arcanas has been almost entirely for the sake of whatever activity or person I'm engaging with (for example, I go to band rehearsals because I feel sorry for Ayane and want to help her, not because I'm planning on fusing some sweet Sun persona). I have no clue what personas I'm going to be finding or getting the opportunity to fuse. Should I just focus on one or two arcana and go out of my way to stick with those personas? Will I still have access to all the elemental skills that way?

3) I don't think I ever totally understood when is a good night to go into the TV and when isn't. Can someone explain this please?

Those are the big ones really, but I'd love any other tips for playing this game "well" that you guys have. Thanks!

I still come back to Kengo now and again. The pacing and atmosphere of the daily grind of a samurai in training is just really different. The controls are pretty awkward at first but once you're used to it it's perfectly playable. Then, once you're comfortable with it and those imperial tournaments roll into town, that's some of the most on-edge fighting I've done. There's basically no story and that's fine. It's total comfort food for me.

Definitely Silent Hill, and I have a feeling that in a few years I just won't give a shit about anything called Final Fantasy, which is a really sad thought.

Sorry, don't know how this keeps happening. I try to post under the game-specific forum and it ends up in General Discussion anyway.

I was surprised at the overwhelmingly positive response when that trailer rolled around. A lot of you folks seem to enjoy the series quite a bit. So tell me, what makes the series (and hopefully this newest installment) so great?

Thanks!

What I've played has fascinated me, but damn is the PC port unwieldy. The actual playing of it hasn't been the best experience.

After reacting to the music the way I did though, I just impulsively bought the soundtrack. Was this a bad idea? Do you think the music is best heard in the context of the game first, or does it matter at all?

I ask because I've never owned a game soundtrack having not completed the corresponding game. Does this music accompany events of the story or is it all background? Thanks!

I've cried multiple times, but I still don't think it's actually sunk in yet. I just....can't believe it. My thoughts will be with his wife and family for some time, and with the incredible Giant Bomb crew that along with him have essentially kept me warm on so many otherwise lonely nights. Particularly Jeff. I can't imagine losing my best pal of so many years, and I wish so badly that I could say anything to him that would help. Jeff, you'll never see this, but you have also been an incredible presence in my years growing up, and you have my deepest thanks for that. I am truly sorry, and for whatever it's worth, I'm pulling for you.
