I'm not really one for "favourite songs"; I tend to go through phases. However, without getting into a bunch of obscure blues tunes from the 20s and 30s, I can tell you a few songs that I'm digging now which are somewhat obscure where I'm from. Naturally because this is the internet, you guys may well be aware of them. You can find all of them on Youtube, I think.

Ray Lamontagne, "Crazy" (an accoustic cover or the popular Gnarles Barkley tune)

Tallest Man on Earth, "It Will Follow the Rain"

William Elliott Whitmore "Hell or High Water"

Seasick Steve "Things Go Up"

Bob Brozman "I Lost My Girl from Memphis"

Julian Fauth "Flying Crow Blues"

@BPRJCTX:

Thanks for the heads up.

I'm currently an area with no broadband for the next few weeks so I'll have to pass right now, but I already picked up Trials Evo last week. I'm sure I'll see it on sale again before the year is out. Maybe then I can finally catch up on all that complex Trials lore...

Evo is crazy good. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I'm sure there are plenty of folks like me who will find them useful.

Divine Divinity (Diablo clone) and Legend of Grimlock (retro first-person dungeon crawler) might be up your alley. You can pick them up at GOG for next to nothing. I'd also try the trial versions of some dungeon crawlers like Torchlight and Crimson Alliance. Maybe Orcs Must Die? That's sort of an RPG/Tower-Defense mash-up with no story, lengthy dialogue, or choices that I'm aware of, but you still build a character and fight waves of orcs.

Some older JRPGs in ROM form or in rerelease might suit you also, but I'm not familiar enough with that branch of gaming to make good suggestions. I would definitely concur with all the folks touting Borderlands, and might even ad Dead Island. I don't care for it, but it reminded me of Borderlands.

EDIT: Someone also mentioned Dungeon Siege. I definitely concur: all 3 would be suitable.

Yeah, it's really too bad this is just another cash-in from a mediocre developer. I really wish some other studio could get the licence from Cyandide. The IP deserves way better. I'll probably give it a look when it drops below 40. I suspect that won't be long, given its release date and quality.

Nobody seems to have been reviewing it. What little about it that has been published thus far has said that the game has a solid but bleak narrative surrounded by bugs and crappy production values.

I just cancelled my amazon preorder just to be safe. Right now it just doesn't seem worth the $60 price tag, despite being a huge GRRM fan (I reread the books bi-annually). I really wanted the artbook, too, but I expect the game won't sell well and I might be able to pick up that bundle later. I'd love to hear what you guys think.

Hey, it's still early, I may well pick the game up if other reviews and word of mouth show it in a better light, or at least state that its flaws can be overlooked (a la Alpha Protocol).

It was a fun little puzzle platformer with (occasionally-challenging) shooter elements. I know it's not super original, but I really dug the physics/gravity based puzzles (it reminded me somewhat or Trine), especially the manipulation of gravity. The game itself isn't revolutionary, but it's fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's got tons of heart, definitely more than the sum of its parts (and I love the blues rock song from the intro).

I felt like I got my money's worth.

Well, they don't really make many games like Dragon Age: Orgins anymore, not even Bioware. And in this medium, originality is not always part and parcel with quality. The key is solid execution. If it wasn't for cyanide's less-than-stellar track record, I could see myself picking this up early for the artbook.

For that pricetag, I'll wait to hear what folks have to say about the expansion's size and quality.

Did anyone even want this?

This will certainly be a fantastic drain on Bethsoft's resources, meaning people will get even less of what they actually want from them.
