I love that song when I first heard it on YouTube but on the same note that video seriously creeps me out, on a nightmarish level.

I want Dream Theaters new album. Badly.

So far, I've only bought 3 albums from this year. Crack the Skye by Mastodon, 21st Century Breakdown by Green Day, and Misanthropes by Celeste.

Mastodon's release is my preference out of those 3, I'll have to see if Dream Theater usurps that position.

I can't really think of anything that has come out so far this year that I can remember even hearing!  lol  Then again, I'm still spinning Misery Signals' Controller album.  Such an incredibly well-written album that truly blends genres so well.

*EDIT*  That video for "Ebb & Flow" was shitty quality and didn't do justice to the amazingness of the song, so I went for "A Certain Death".  Personally, I hate the video, but whatever...

I personally have mostly enjoyed Metric's Fantasies and the Decemberists' The Hazards of Love the most, though the latter was mostly because I was able to attend the live premiere at Stubb's. Unfortunately, no music has really surprised thus far this year.

Anyway, for me its probably Number 1.

I haven't bought in album in years. Why pay a bunch of money for a bunch of songs I probably won't listen to when I can purchase individual songs for a buck over the internets?

It's been a slow start to the year, but it's gonna pick up real soon. For now though, Thursday's Common Existence is my album of the year, and "You Were The Cancer" from that album is the best song. I don't care about music videos.

I like Franz Ferdinand, but I have not listened to much of their "Tonight" album. I actually forgot about it, thanks for the reminder!

I have not listened to many CD's from this year, but I really like Dichotomy by Becoming the Archetype. It's actually a pretty good CD, even though the last one was not so great in my eyes.

Not really into rock so never listened to Franz or Projectors but loved the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Lonely Island albums, Yeah Yeah Yeahs to be more specific. The "Skeleton" track in particular is a song I've yet to grow tired of.

To diversify this post a little bit for my Hip-Hop heads, I'd argue that Mos Def's The Ecstatic and Cradle Orchestra's Velvet Ballads are very solid releases this year and for jazz fans out there looking for something a little different Soil & Pimp Sessions' Planet Pimp is an awesome album as well.

That music video is epic.

I'd also like to add for the bands I listen to most of them released albums last year, Kasabian's Prodigy and Franz Ferdinand's new ones are worth noting though all of which I really liked.

As a sidenote I'll be bumping this around September.

I kinda despise most modern music, but the Dirty Projectors are pretty darn good. That cover album of Black Flag's Damaged was very different, in a good way.
