@vod_crack: I enjoyed your rant. Couple things I wanted to address.I wouldn't say they are trying to appeal to "Gears of War die hard fans who've been around since day one" because Gears of War Ultimate Edition exists and Gears 4 resembles more of Gears 3 in play style but your point remains. That being said this BETA does suck. There is so little in it in every capacity.
I liked Judgement too. Nobody that I knew bought it though so they all just said it sucked because they didn't play it. Loved the Breechshot. Maps were pretty good too. The vertical cover jumping was really smart too.
Gears 4 needs to be different. More different weapons. Can't be Gears 3 with #Swarmyboys.Gears of War Ultimate Edition is still the perfect game for me. But I'm an idiot.

The maps in Judgment were good, there just wasn't enough of them. All of the maps in the GOW4 Beta are the same ol guff.
To be frank, this beta fucking sucks. I can't believe this is the approach they're taking. The series is nearly a decade old and it has barely evolved at all since its inception. It seems like they're trying their hardest to just make a game that soley appeals to the Gears of War die hard fans who've been around since day one but fuck everyone else. Anyone not apart of this elite crew can feel free to play the game against bots, apparently that's the mode made for us...
Believe it or not, I actually liked Judgment's multiplayer the most because it was distinctly not Gears of War. I mostly just played free for all and it was good fun! Judgment actually made some small but neat mechanical improvements, which aren't present in the new game, mainly the ability to throw grenades without having to switch to them and being able to switch between your two main guns from a single button press. Judgment was a faster paced game and I enjoyed it more as a result. It's a shame that revisionist history has now called that game shit and it will never get the props it deserves.
Also, where the fuck is the Retro Lancer? That's my gun! What a load of bullshit.
Finally one last point, I find it hilarious that nearly 10 years later and Gears still DOES NOT allow you to switch shoulder camera angles while aiming. Would it kill them to put that in? Jesus Christ.
