Pet Peeves about Bad Company 2

So I recently bought this game for an awesome price on the Steam Sale and after playing it for about 20 hours there are some issues that need to be resolved.

  • Logging in. It's not apparent to me why Bad Company 2 does not link in with steam, after being the favored game for a PC port due to it's dedicated servers (BC vs COD) at the time. Maybe they didn't have enough time maybe they just want our emails. Either way it's a hassle.
  • Server Browser. After again, being the favored PC shooter for dedicated server support of the annual FPS releases at the time. The lack of streamline and functionality by searching for a server is a very weary process. Loading in servers even with filters takes much too long. They also need some latency filters. Maybe i'm too used to the quick server browsers on Valve games.
  • Constantly uploading or downloading or updating stats. I'm not sure what goes on under the hood but when leaving a game or logging in, loading statistics is another incredible hassle. Especially when you enter a server accidentally only to wait another minute or so to get back to the server list.
  • When you're actually in the game. You can't see you stats. So after loading them you can't seem them. When you want to know which insignia to go for, or what stars you have on a weapon while you're in the game. You can't, that's endlessly annoying for me.
Now for the game bits.
  • Game balancing. The Algorithm to balance the game is purely a number equalizer. For the brief time of playing, half my games have been incredibly unbalanced. Is it so hard to equate roughly the amount of experience each squad has and randomize the squads when starting a new map? When you have 5  maxed out players on one team and many starters on another you want to leave the server. And when you server hop, it's so much harder with the janky interface mentioned above. Not to mention that it forces people to server hop.
  • Playing with friends. The game should really implement the party system that games like COD have initiated. Finding a nearly full server to play with a friend and finding out that only 1 person has gotten in so you guys have to quit out with the janky UI server browser. Also playing an unbalanced game when friends are split evenly in the middle is not a pleasant experience.

Those are just a few. Might experience some more later on. Again these are small things that make the game a little annoying. Maybe it's due to the fact that it's a port, as most FPS games are now-a-days.

Likelihood that any of these will be patched or updated? None. Just thought i'd bang my head against the keyboard and see what comes out.

Thinking about reviewing games.

I play a lot of games. So i'm thinking about reviewing them in my spare time. I'm not sure if i should put emphasis on particular aspects such as gameplay, storyline, graphics or music. Or focus on summing a game up in one number or a set of stars. I could go with straight out formal reviews but i'm afraid people won't read them.
