Didn't try out the PC version, Brad? Ah, well, didn't really expect it. For anyone that came to this review curious about performance or controls, it plays great with KB&M and controller alike (and there's enough classes that don't require precise aim that using a controller competitively is 100% viable!) and at least on my system (i7 6700k, GTX Titan Black, 16GB RAM, so adjust expectations according to the differences in our systems) it runs at a rock solid 144 FPS (vsync on) at all times and never ever dips or stutters, which is seriously impressive given how utterly GORGEOUS the game is. I seriously consider this and the first game to be some of the best looking games in existence.

That's saying something, they just nail their art style and design so spectacularly, there's a real physicality to the graphics and how smooth it runs that makes it feel like you're playing an animated movie, and that's coming from someone who couldn't roll their eyes harder at all those years of "It's gonna be like Toy Story but on a console!" How perfectly smooth it runs combined with how good it looks (Almost no jaggies at all, even at just 1080p, fantastic lighting, high res textures and tons of art assets and the aforementioned killer art style) just really makes it, to borrow a reviewer buzz phrase "a visual delight." Oh, and the animations! They're amazing! And the sound design! Amazing! ARGH! I just closed the game and I want right back in.

I didn't even come here to give a mini-review, just wanted to clarify PC performance. I'll get back to that: My system is a bit overkill, but the fact that it runs at a solid 100% locked 144 FPS is something even really well optimized games don't do on my system, and without any regular or microstutter to speak of? That's almost unheard of. Usually if your FPS is that high you tend to encounter at least *occasional* stutters. However, according to people on less powerful systems on Reddit, 4GB of RAM seems to be pretty low for this game and is actually the minimum requirement. There's a LOT of high res assets, so if your RAM is that low (it shouldn't be, buy more) then you're gonna have to toy with some settings. If you overtax your RAM or VRAM you're gonna get stutter and framerate dips, so keep that in mind if you're on a modest system. Even if GW1 ran really smooth, this has bigger maps, what feels like a lot more characters, certainly more character variety/customization (which is unique assets that eat up RAM/VRAM!) and more particle effects and whatnot. It's definitely a more demanding game than the first, but is still REALLY well optimized.

"You have to push up and down to control the kite, but the game didn't tell me so it took me six tries to even attempt to control it."

How far we've fallen...

Man, just watched this now and it's not at all what I expected. I expected a super simple flat-shaded (2-color, 3 at most) Pac-Man maze thing that's like a watch, and it wouldn't look like it'd have a screen or anything. That'd actually be pretty cool, especially for kids. This just looks duuuuuuuuuumb.

Know what the true right choice is?

Going back to the start, saving Chloe, then evacuating everyone. You can rewind time, you'll figure out how to do it effectively. Convince the police you can time travel and have them evacuate everyone. Boom. Town gets destroyed but everyone is okay, fuckin' nailed it. Not this wishy washy bullshit about "lessons." Take your powers and save everyone!

A console-exclusive deal is fine with me if that means Sony will help Kojima Productions get up and running and support the process. Hopefully the next game in development from them will be available on everything. Also, reading between the lines, it seems this new title could come to PC, so that's exciting. And I really like the new Kojima Productions logo.

"Console exclusive" these words tend to very clearly convey a PC version these days. Otherwise it would just be a "PS4 exclusive."

Yuck, Square sucks so hard at real time combat. I would've rather they took the intensity of Bravely Default battles or the strategy of Last Remnant battles than to take the lazy ARPG route. Hey, want to play a game like Devil May Cry but with combat done by someone who has never played Devil May Cry? Square has a surprise for you buddy!

It already looks like trash graphically, let's hope the gameplay and storytelling are good enough to make that a non-issue.

I actually don't think it can ever be a non-issue. In a game like this, atmosphere is a key ingredient, and the better it looks, the more authentic characters feel, the more immersed and enjoyable the experience. We can all pretend like if the story's good enough then the visuals wouldn't matter one bit, but there is 100% a difference between walking up to a guy and having him turn and face you naturally and offer up a greeting as some fog or dust rolls by, old papers blowing in the wind, maybe a storm off in the distance, compared to you running up to a guy, hitting a button, then the camera zooming in to the same spot on every person as they awkwardly turn to face the camera and animate terribly as they speak to you as though a robot.

This stuff is important, no one should get a free pass. Presentation can make or break a story-based game.

Was down with this till I heard (from others, not GB) about the community around the game. I understand that having a competent crew is crucial, but if I'm going to make errors as I learn only to get mocked and yelled at for daring not to be a god at it, this just isn't worth the cash. Shame because I like the setting, but oh well, saves me thirty bucks.

Uhh, I've played with a ton of randoms and like 3 guys have said anything negative, and usually after like an hour of wipes with really obvious mistakes.

I skipped out on this stream because this game interests me, but I am unsure if I want to buy it.

I was super not feeling the first episode because of the teenaged BS and weird slang (also I want to stab that fucking prof right in his goddamn teeth), so will the rest of this episodes do anything for me? It just felt so try-hard and out of touch, but so many people are raving that it has me curious.

A big theme of the game is the concept of judging people based on initial impressions or limited impressions. I think that's kind of why they put you in a situation where you're playing as the "hipster" with a sort of douchey professor and a bunch of teenagers trying really hard to be cool or funny or cruel.

The game presents these people to you, and then sort of unfolds them over time. It's kind of showing you that, hey, yeah, you think this person is dorky because you don't like the stupid slang they use, but they're still a person, they're more than just your flash impression.

Obviously there's a lot more to the game than that (And it's awesome), but I think the idea is 100% for you to have an initial impression similar to yours, to help build empathy and understanding later in the episodes.
