@thetofu: This is less about american social-politics and more about video game marketing in general. I'm not even necessarily looking for something gender or racially diverse (although it would be nice, especially when the creator of Cyberpunk is black), you can still make a white dude that isn't a shaved headed, broad-shouldered, soldier looking motherfucker that every other marketing team uses for the sake of mass market appeal.
There's diversity even among white dudes. It was a missed opportunity to make their marketing actually stand out from the pack.
I do think it would be cool if they changed up the protag's look every trailer, but maybe that would be too confusing for a general audience.
@rocketskates: I guess? I mean they've never really been trend setters in that department I suppose, but as a business they are known to be a bit of an outlier. They had more freedom to go outside the norm than an EA or Activision.
It's not so much an expectation as just a bit of disappointment at them wasting the opportunity.
Commander Shepard of Mass Effect was my first thought seeing him. I am also glad there will be character customization, but I'm also a bit disappointed that even CDPR felt the need to go with a generic white dude with a buzz cut as their marketing protagonist, when they had the freedom to pick basically anything. But I guess that's just how it is.
I don't know about Washington (probably), but weed is definitely legal here in Oregon. These days they're like the new Starbucks. I can't drive more than a couple blocks without passing another weed shop.
The thumbnail got me hyped, but after reading the description I'm disappointed to know that they're talking about ticks instead of talking about The Tick.
I really like the way that Dragon Ball handles time travel in that you cannot change the future, rather, tinkering with the past creates alternate timelines. That's a unique way of handling it, as far as I know.
Sounds pretty similar to Steins;Gate's concept of time travel and worldlines.
