Unleash your wrath as the Prototype in this open world game-
Radical Entertainments last game was Hulk:Ultimate Destruction, it was a criminally underplayed game that had you playing the Incredible Hulk in a GTA style open world, the game gave you a dynamically changing world and a nigh on invincible character to destroy it as.
In Prototype these elements are expanded upon as this time Radical Are not restricted by a license, they have created their own Anti-Hero Character in the form of Alex Mercer, the Prototype.
Mercer is able to Alter his genetic code to change his shape, uses of this power range from disguising yourself to growing scissor hands.
The Story has you playing amnesiac Alex trying to discover his past whilst New York is overrun by Zombies and the Military Combating said zombie threat, the story in Prototype is presented in cut-scenes and a new Method of Presenting the story in the game called the Web Of Intrigue.
The Web of intrigue highlights certain individuals accross the city, these individuals are part of the conspiracy that lead to Alex getting his superpowers. Absorbing these individuals allows Alex to gain access to thier memories in the form of a short live action cutscene. The idea is that by absorbing these individuals who each know a small amount about the conspiracy you can eventually learn the full story of what lead to Alex Getting his powers.
The Gameplay in Prototype has you doing missions that take you all around Manhattan in the usual Open world gaming style.
An important thing to note is that the movement in Prototype is heavily inspired by parkour and Alex's super-powered Parkour controls so well and allows you to leap around the city with ease.
The game has good mission variety for the most part and a New Game Plus mode that allows you to restart the game retaining all of Alex's unlocked abilities.
The Graphics in Prototype can at times be quite generic, but the game never has a dip below 90 FPS, despite the complete chaos on screen during combat .
Speaking of the combat in Prototype, its very easy to run around destorying single enemies with all the powers you have so the game usually throws upto 40-50 enemies at you at once making combat a blast once you learn it. The combat system can be annoying when facing vehicles as you need to lock onto them usually in order to do any real damage from a distance.
The Soundtrack to Prototype fits the action well but is quite forgettable.
Overall Prototype is an Excellent Open World game with a neat story that allows you to just let loose!
