I am going to be honest

I hated this game. There. That's it. I said it. Let me elaborate on this.

First, the good things about the game.

The story is not bad. It is enjoyable, makes somewhat sense. It is interesting enough to drive you. You want to know about Alex Mercer's past and you want to know what kind of a crazy madness thing is tearing the New York City apart. Also, having lots of powers adds lots of layers to the game. Because you use so many different kinds of powers and you upgrade them pretty much through the whole game, it is simply fun to see how you can kill people and wreck the city. When they call it "Devastator," they really mean it. You see all kinds of military vehicles just breaking apart around you and a huge group of people just getting wasted in a second. It is pretty satisfying. Free running element of the game is not bad either. All you need to do is to press one button(in my case it was R2 becuase I had a PS3 version), and simply run. Of course you need to glide and air dash but you are not required to do that. Alex will run up the wall, and jump at the right moment all by himself if you just pull down the R2 trigger and move him around with a joy stick. It's pretty convenient.

But, even with these powers, the game is unbelievably frustrating. I cannot emphasize this enough. The game is VERY frustrating. I finished inFamous in hard mode with one sitting. Of course I died a lot during the process but I like to consider myself that I have a pretty high tolerance for hard games.(I made every single character in Final Fantasy 7 and 10 level 99. I think that says a lot) If I die in the game because the game itself is difficult, then I can do it over multiple times and change my strategies. At the end, I will choose the best one and, hopefully, win.
But the difference is that, Prototype is not hard. It just throws a shit loaded enemies after enemies. And becuase the way game story is designed, you are really stuck in the no man's land and everybody tries to kill you. The military, the infected civilians and the big ass pink monsters. There is no strategy there. You do not have a choice but to run, heal, come back, attack, run heal come back, attack,  run, heal, come back, attack until you clear the area. Even while you're running, the rocker launchers blow you away if it hits any where near you. So even running is very hard becuase of those damn accurate rocket launchers. And because you repeat the process of run, heal, come back, attack for pretty every mission, you feel like you are repeating the same over and over again way too quickly. Even with all those numerous powers, for the mission, the chances are you are going to pick the best one that just pretty much works for every enemy and rarely use the other powers. In fact, because you are so powerful, you can destroy anything with any weapons of your choice. If might take more time than others, but you WILL kill it. For example, the best weapon for military tanks are the hammer fists thingy. But you can still destroy them with your claws. It might take some times, but you will kill it no matter what. At the end, there is no point of having different weapons other than just to see other cool moves.

At the end, I was very frustrated by the game. I finished it becuase of the story but boy it was REALLY frustrating. There was a couple of times that I really wanted to throw my controller like Brad did and rather than throwing, I smashed my controller on my desk, which probably worst than throwing. Overall, I really hated this game. When I finished it, I walked away frustrations.

If Prototype seems familiar to you, don't be surprised. Anyone who played last generation's The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction (also developed by Radical Entertainment) will immediately recognize most of Prototype's key mechanics, as many of them are ripped, unchanged, straight from The Hulk. While the core action was great fun last gen, Radical seems to have recognized that the industry has moved on since then. In order to differentiate Prototype from its predecessor, shape shifting abil...

      It's Definitely Worth A Rent 0

I beat Prototype yesterday on Normal difficulty. I ended up playing for another hour afterwards, and then started over in New Game +. As you can see, I really enjoy this game, but it's not for everyone.     Prototype is a free world, action/adventure game developed by Radical Entertainment, which is just another way of saying "If you liked The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, you might like this game." It also has many attributes found in Spider-Man 2. At the very beginning, you watch...
