Save your ass, save the world and eat your neighbour.
It can't be easy to be a chased superhero with no memory, in a New York ruined by a virus mutating people into monsters. Luckilly for Alex Mercer, he's a little bit more lucky. He might've lost his memory, and he might've gotten the virus, but in difference to all other New Yorkers he got superpowers.
With his extraordinary strength, he can change into the shape of whoever he eats, and as he is super heavy as well, he got no problems destroying tanks with single jumps. He can grow weapons out of his arms, and shields on his back. A superhero like no other, in other words. The virus is tempted regulated by the military and the government, as they do their best in hiding the truth behind the virus. Thanks to his superpowers (and a few friends), Alex tries to figure out the hidden secrets of the virus, trying to bring back his own memories.
Prototype is a game with a lot of space and possibilities, where you can run, jump and fly wherever you see fit. There is also alot of variation in what you can do. Apart from the formal fighting, you can drive tanks, fly around, and do different minigames to earn you trophies/achievements.
There isn't a lack in video games where you control a guy with superheroes. Therefore it is important that the games deliver the goods and doesn't become "one in many". Prototype is almost there. From the first moment you are thrown into it, and the game manages to engage you for quite some time. The story is rather poor, as it only seems to be an excuse to run around New York solving problems.
