The act of breaking the law.
When a character grabs a ledge, in order to pull themselves up, or shimmy to the side until there's room. Mostly seen in 3rd person adventure games, but also in many platformers.
Limb Targeting is the ability to target specific limbs on the body with the object being either to disable the limb or kill the target faster. It may also be referred to as the "Limb System" or "Localized Damage".

Lock On is a game mechanic that allows the player to automatically center the character's aim on a target, usually done with a toggle or a press of a button.
Locomotion is when the characters feet collide with what it is standing on, making the animations look a lot more realistic. Many games use this concept, such as Skate 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV.
Losing consciousness is often a result of being knocked out or fainting. In games, this mental state is often used to allow a checkpoint to be reached, for the plot to be moved forward, or even for location changes. Sometimes it can be a state of limbo between health being depleted and actual death.
This concept is for games in which at least one of the main characters is male.
A game where you eventually receive a map of an area. Like in Metroid Prime you have map download stations to get a map outline of the area. This is the same concept in the exploring Castlevania games.
Game within a game. Can either have no effect on other portions of the primary game or have drastic impacts. In order to qualify as a meta game it must be outside the normal experience and have seperate rules that govern it.

The minimap is a small, simplified version of a larger map. This plays a vital role in many games, especially Real Time Strategy, where it is important to have an overview of the entire map.

A post processing effect that blurs and streaks the entire frame. Loosely based on the behavior of real-world optics.
Some action-oriented games make use of motion capture technology to make character's movements realistic.

Combat based on organic (or similarly functioning) mounts. This can include melee or ranged attacks from horseback.
A movie reference in a game, is where a game references a film. This can be done in many different ways.
