Mickey Rourke stars in Gameplay Goatfuck

If you've ever asked yourself "is the douchebag convention in town?" after stabbing someone through the skull then Rogue Warrior is the game for you!

Walking up to dudes, pressing A, watching an over-the-top stabbing animation, and hearing Mickey Rourke mutter some vaguely comprehensible curse laden insults. That about sums up the major appeal of this B-level "gem". You're probably thinking that sounds like it would get old fast. And it does. Luckily by the time the schtick starts to wear thin the game has the good sense to end. Abruptly.

You play as Demo Dick. His primary job seems to be cleaning up "goatfucks" in various communist locales. After mopping up some goatfucks in North Korea Demo Dick hops on a train heading to Russia to finish off the goatfucking. Really though the scenery changes in name only. You are pretty much wandering around linear industrial complexes of bunkers the entire game.

The game runs well below 30fps on average which makes it seem very stuttery and choppy. Not helping matters is the stiff animation which often makes firefights look like an amateur puppet show. The cover system is a joke. You're much better off just ducking behind objects than using the janky cover mechanic. I found it to be a crapshoot whether or not I would enter/exit cover, and shooting from cover is similarly unresponsive. Frequent checkpoints and a quick pace cut down on a lot of potential frustration though.

Beneath the bizarre appeal of Mickey Rourke uninterestedly mumbling expletives as he viciously murders people lies a pretty lackluster and half finished shooter. Yet it's that same cheesey appeal that gives the game a certain level of charm that was missing from the current crop of bland shooters. I couldn't recommend this game at full price but this would make for a great rental or bargain bin pick-up.

It's Over Quickly, But Rogue Warrior Leaves A Bad Taste Behind 0

Meet Dick. He hates  Communists. There wasn't really any hype or attention paid to the new first person shooter title by Rebellion studios Rogue Warrior. This isn't surprising considering that the FPS is a crowded genre and most of the attention is going to Modern Warfare 2 anyway. I would like to tell you that Rogue Warrior is a surprising gem that provides an entertaining, fun, and lengthy adventure that really makes you feel like a Navy SEAL fighting against impossible odds. Unfortunately, if...

      Rogue Warrior Shanks Players 0

Even after being highly disappointed with Rogue Warrior after getting my hands on it at E3, I had still some hope that the  Luckily for the guy on the right, he'll never have to play this game. very rough game that I played in July could be polished up enough to be worth playing come December. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. Rogue Warrior is an ugly, broken mess. Rogue Warrior is loosely based on the autobiography of Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko, a veteran Navy SEAL taske...
