    He is best known for creating the 3D fighting game genre, as the main designer of the original Virtua Fighter and the creator of the Tekken series. After working for Data East, Sega, and Namco, he later founded Dream Factory in 1995. Working with Squaresoft, he created several similarly innovative 3D fighters/brawlers, including the Tobal series, Ehrgeiz, and The Bouncer.

    Beyond fighters/brawlers, he was also one of the original designers for the similarly influential 3D racing game Virtua Racing. In addition, he has also worked on RPGs, including the Glory of Heracles, Metal Max and Arc the Lad franchises.
