Shigefumi Hino, born in Takasago, Japan in 1963, is a graphics designer, game director, assistant manager and planner for the software designing section of Nintendo EAD

After graduating from the Osaka University of Arts' Design Department, he joined the company in 1988, just as Shigeru Miyamoto was finishing work on Super Mario Bros. 3. He is now most famous as the creator of Yoshi, his first project being lead artist on Super Mario World, for which he designed all the new characters. Hino is also responsible for the design of Yoshi's Story and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, which he also directed, as well as updating the graphics in Super Mario All-Stars.

Most recently, he has co-created and directed the Pikmin series alongside Masamichi Abe, primarily focussing on the graphical design and character elements.
