I'm sure they will if they try to sell a DVD box set.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Jul 10, 2008
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus for the PlayStation 2. It is chronologically the fifth installment in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. Like its predecessor, its gameplay combines a traditional role-playing game with elements of a social simulation. Its critical and commercial success spawned a sizable media empire, including several spinoff titles.

"OMG No! Well, I know you guys can fix it and get it right, and I'm looking forward to the DVD box set. Seriously, Atlus legal hasn't given you any crap for this yet?"As discussed in the ER t-shirt thread, this feature is actually selling copies of not only Persona 4, but Persona 3 FES to devoted Bombers. So as long as GB isn't making direct money from the venture, Atlus is probably pretty pleased with the free advertising.

File corruption recovery is tricky business to say the least. I've had to do it once before myself, and compression algorithms make it a whole lot worse due to the way they work.
Professional file recovery is probably the way to go. With enough expertise in how a codec functions, one can feasibly reconstruct a working video, but it's highly specialised, so I can only imagine how much it would cost.
Guys thank you so much for doing this ER. I've loved every second of this. It's things like this that make us GB fans definitely feel like we belong to the best video game website on the net. I really hope you guys continue because we are not done watching this game game. If donations are required I know there are a lot of GB users that would donate to help. Vinny and Jeff, you two are my heroes for sticking with this game and being dedicated to it.
<3 you guys, and I really hope there's a new episode on Monday.
The words "Duder Its Over" seem to carry more weight with this video... I really hope you guys can get this fixed.
If Ep. 50 can't be salvaged they should do a little "Previously On the Persona 4 Endurance Run" segment at the beginning and sum up the events of the last video with crude drawing or something.
I still don't understand entriely what "pay to have it fixed" means. Do you mean pay a professional to fix your corrupted video file for ep 50?
If so, would that cost a lot? Oh and think of the phone call, "We need you to fix a 45 minute video of two dudes commentating on a JRPG. We really need to see Chie in a bathing suit"
@Aion:
There's no way that taking donations (even if it's necessary, which is probably isn't) would incite the infringement wrath of Atlus, as long as it goes towards fixing the content that was already available for free. And I'm saying if it does cost a lot to repair the data, I'd be one in the first in line to show my support.
Really? You think they purposely sabotaged the Endurance Run? Really?
A much more plausible scenario is that they recorded a special super-long 50th episode, thereby increasing the chances of the file becoming corrupted.
This is the first time I've come across a video website showing what's on a game disc, from start to finish. That could be viewed as GB actually lowering the chance of people buying P4 because they can see the content online for free.
If they were paid to keep posting extracts from the game, they'd be being paid to show what's on the game disc in great detail to people not willing to buy the game. That's comparable to someone ripping what's on a DVD and putting it on the net. And that tends to upset people who get money when people buy the goods.
And, although I'm fairly certain no-one is serious with the DVD comments, GB would get taken to the cleaners if, without permission, they released a box set containing video footage of them playing through P4. Why? Because then they'd clearly be making money from something they themselves had no part in creating. When you buy a DVD or game, you're paying for the license to play it yourself - the law is grey even when it comes to watching what you buy with others.
As for gaming websites with ads, who do you think pays sites like Gamespot to have ads? I'm sure you remember why Jeff was fired from Gamespot.
"This is the first time I've come across a video website showing what's on a game disc, from start to finish. Just saying.
@Aion
I bought Persona 4 because I was afraid they would stop and I would not know what happened in the story. So this helps disprove your theory. Now that I own it, I don't have to watch the GB:ER but I enjoy the commentary so much, that I have to watch to see what Vinny and Jeff say about what I have played.
(sorry about the bold)
"ChickenPants said:Generally speaking, a lot of people have and still are playing it solely because of the endurance run."That Aion guy is such a troll."But he's right. And not an idiot. Like everyone else. If it was as easy as "LOL FIX IT GUIZ MY PATHETIC LIFE IS NOTHING WITHOUT IT", they would. Why don't you all actually play it?"
@Aion
While the whole "viewing of a game" thing is possibly questionable, I think it isn't the same 1-to-1 relation as it would be to posting an entire movie/TV series without permission. Simply because the experience of playing any video game is more than watching someone else play it. If I watch a Super Mario Brothers speed run, I'm not cheating Nintendo out of the experience of playing that game, nor does it diminish my interest in the game. In other words: videos of a game does not equal the game proper. And as others have said, its a pretty clear chance that at least Atlus USA knows about the ER, and haven't done anything yet.
For the ER faithful I'd like to take a moment and say...
Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of video games. "Video games." Those words should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is Episode 50, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the ENDURANCE RUN will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our ENDURANCE RUN Independence Day!!!!!!!!
So episode 50 is gone? Shit.
@Aion: I actually bought a copy of Persona 4 because of this endurance run, and I think that a lot of other people on this site have as well. If anything, Atlus should reward Jeff and Vinny for giving the game publicity.
Damn...this news doesn't get any better by the fact that the show's been ending on cliffhangers for a little while now!
