    A classic of shooters

There are games in a life time that may help shape the perception of tastes and preferences of what a good games should be. As a young boy this was one of those games. In this game you start a young cadet named Sanjuro waking up having to report for duty. The story starts simple, but ends with interesting sudden twists that left me a little baffled at the end how the story arcs sped up more rapidly.
As you can see from the description of this game it is a science fiction game reminiscent of anime such as patlabor and appleseed. The concept of mechs are heavily used in this game. Throughout Shogo levels from the control of a mech and on foot intertwine. The on foot levels tend to be more entertaining from an action stand point, though some of the weapons used by the mech are quite well done and are some of the closest implemented weapons to an anime.
This game is not without some frustrations, the lack of checkpoints is the most notable one. Overall this is a classic game that for its time was a very well done game and unique in many ways. If your looking for a fantastic shooter from 1998 that isn't half life and you don't mind anime then this is a must play.
