Where did Brad get this 90 mph run speed number from? He says it a lot but probably misremembers it like most facts.

I think he means 90 KPH not MPH. There has been MUCH debate on the Doomworld forum about Doomguy's max speed (without wall running or circle strafe tricks) and it's concluded that he runs 55-57 MPH. This is complicated by the fact that Doom doesn't use any real world units for time and space. They had to time how many map units doomguy moves in real time, not tics, and using the officially given scale of 8 pixels = 1 foot and converting the map units to pixels to feet. People calculate anywhere from 40-60 MPH for Doomguy's normal run speed, and around 21-35 MPH walking. Like I said it's really not conclusive because Doom's engine really doesn't have any sort of realworld scale or dimensions.

And yes, I am a crazy person obsessed with Doom.
