Guided experience actually sounds good since I tend to get lost in video games all the time =P I pretty much need a waypoint to find where I'm supposed to go.

Darkside Chronicles looks to have much more content satisfactory for a full price purchase instead of this rental.

Graphics look decent for Wii, but like the guys said in the Bombcast, this is just an easy way to quickly release another DEAD SPACE, as I'm sure EA would like some more money from the franchise considering the first didn't sell as much as it deserved to.

While I don't have a Wii, I doubt I would be interested even if I did.  This type of experience is fine in an arcade, but when you bring it to a home on a console, it just doesn't seem like it would add up to a compelling experience worth its retail price tag.

So is Dead Space Extraction loosely based on the prequel comics?

That comic book cut scene looked a lot like the comic.

This is how developers should make games for the Wii, instead of crappy minigame collections full of waggle time.

Light gun games don't feel right without, well, a light gun. And the gun accessory for the Wii doesn't quite live up to what I wanted, so I never got it. They should've made an attachment which had some buttons on and maybe even an analog stick somehow (one hand for trigger and a button, left hand for analog stick and maybe a few buttons.)

That'd be crazy fun.

Did I mention how lame it is to shun a whole genre and its sub genres simply because you aren't into them? No? Well it's very, very lame. How about having someone who feels like that about the genre actually review such a game? That's pretty damn lame too.

Gread video review, Brad.

I don't have a Wii so I'll probably never gonna play it. What happens in level 9? In the last bombcast Brad mentioned some kind of twist.

The animated comic from GT and the PAX comic are effing awesome: they capture the visceral mood of the game perfectly. Hmmm... maybe that's why they're called Visceral Games...

"It's gonna be the same every time you play it" You mean like the majority of video games? Like Batman: Arkham Asylum? Or Metroid Prime? Does that make these bad games? I don't think so. You're review for this game was greatly underwhelming, Brad. We really need you to do less games on Nintendo consoles because the scores you give them seem to almost always just be off. I mean hell you gave Infamous a 5 star review, and that game is a pile of bad game designs.

Was that the "SPOILAR!" that brad mentioned on the Bombcast?

I'd rather have someone who is impartial to a genre review a game than someone who loves it and will glowingly recommend it. You will find out more about it, and get a better opinion. Besides, you should already know if you like this type of game, and make your own decision with the information given as to if it has enough to keep you interested.

Regardless, all of the reviews here are top notch, if you actually read them as well as use the video review to complement your reading of it. Not too sure why you're even complaining though, Brad's review was actually pretty positive for the most part.

The Wii is trash.   They are getting desperate.

Dead Space Devs worked really hard to integrate the shooter's interface with the environment.   This trash, completely goes against their work.  For the sole purpose of making a profit off the few naive kids, stupid enough to buy this novelty kids toy.

Nintendo completely slapped their original fans in the face with this console.  Now they are pandering to what remains.

Brad comes close to referring to DSE as the best light gun game of all time in this week's podcast. I really don't think he hated it, not at all.

Since video reviews on GB are few and far between, just exactly what criteria is used to determine whether a game gets a video review or not?

I'm no great proponent of cuddly and colorful, but to my eyes, the Wii gets away with its graphics a lot better when it doesn't do things that require on subtle lighting touches so much - like Dead Space.

It's his personal opinion on the genre, and to be quite honest, he's right. Most people want more depth than what a light gun shooter has to offer, but it's good to see that Dead Space Extraction at least pulled it off appropriately.

ugh! what a terrible system the wii is.
these low-res out of date graphics make my eyes bleed.

now all gather 'round and watch as another wii game tanks.

this'll be lucky if it sells 10,000 copies.
stop the madness! the wii is not a relevant system.

it's a plug 'n' play for housewives and grandmas.

You make a good point. Some games often seem like they're going to get video reviews but never do and others seem complete unexpected. The reviews seem to be all over the place in how often they are. Halo 3 ODST video review was posted on September 22nd and the review before that was Shadow Complex back in August and there's been gaps even longer than that (See post dates for Wolverine and RE5).

What were you complaining about then? Your comment clearly says you didn't like how they got someone who didn't like the genre to review the game.

hm...I'm disappointed in this.  I was looking forward to some limb-severing goodness, but that doesn't seem like the main focus (even though it's there to an extent)
