Now I remember why I never got past the first level in TS2, those controls were awful! It was worse because I was playing it on the GameCube whose controller probably wasn't the best for first person shooters. I wouldn't mind an updated version though.

I knew I stayed up to late for a reason.

@bill_mcneal: Really? i played it on GameCube and I thought it had the best controls of any console FPS -- to the point that I can't enjoy Halo, or any other console shooter, because they don't control like Timesplitters 2. I need that limp-wristed gun hand, I guess. To this day, I can only play mouse and keyboard if it ain't Timesplitters.

Yeah, personal preference and all but I absolutely hated the control scheme. I'm sure if I tried it again today I'd probably be better at it.

Man, putting Timesplitters 2 on the same disc as fucking Halo is just not fair to Timesplitters. Really shows how outdated that series was at the time.

@bill_mcneal: Except as you may have saw, the control scheme is entirely customizable. You can make down on the d-pad shoot if you like.

@drewbert I was thinking Cortana sounded off right before you mentioned it.

Quokkas are great, but there's two k's so it's Quok-kah not Quo-ka.

It's not entirely true that they don't have any natural predators though, and they do exist on the mainland, it's just wild foxes and cats have destroyed most of the mainland population leaving Rottnest Island relatively untouched.

EDIT: In an interesting coincidence, I was just using a copy of Superman: Red Son under my keyboard as vibration isolation. It's alright? The story is w/e but it's fun romp to see the weird soviet redesigns of DC characters.

Jeff reading Superman villain names is the best.

At first I'd thought Dan must've changed Timesplitters 2's control scheme to something dumb, but then I remembered that the original Xbox controller didn't have four buttons on the top, instead opting for those ridiculous white and black buttons. I know you can customize the controls, but man, the Xbox version of that game is not the way to go. Yikes.

(Also am I alone in kind of liking that aim scheme that doesn't stay centered on the screen? I always felt far better at aiming with those than in modern games).

Bought Wrath of Cortex for PS2 last year when I bought the console and oh god, it just felt like a soulless copy of the original games. Almost like those unity/unreal engine made demos of the first Crash you see around.

...and for the second time, dat Hitman 2 footage! It's like Dan would've played the game!

I think that Superman has historically been incredibly popular because he is a symbol of hope and that everything will be ok. He exists as kind of an all powerful, humble guardian, an archetype that people have enjoyed since time immemorial.

This also makes him sort of boring as a character when you just look at him from the outside. The only real way to tell a good, interesting story with him in a modern way is for him to have to deal with problems not easily solved with force, have internal struggles, or deal with socio-political issues.

This was an awesome Demo Derby; but man, do I not care for Halo... Never have, never will - most boring game franchise for me.
