What he's saying is that they have eliminated car-jacking and on-foot sequences but that's okay because it's deeply integrated into the story, the story being a series of car chases that are not actually taking place but are really part of a this trippy coma-dream. Licensed cars certainly won't save this game for me.

That shifting looks really odd, the game looks nice thought, getting a burnout vibe from the way the city fits together and the mention of multiplayer.

Imo this looks like pure shit. Just as shitty as Driver 3, or should I say Driv3r. I guess it's still fairly early on to make any final judgements. But thus far, it's a no go for me.

I mean... this could be good .....
 
Dr1ver (:P) did control awesomely at the time. If they just put me in a city with a car that controls great then I could be persuaded.

i bet Mr. Martin thinks the game is awesome. HES WRONG. What fucked up story is that? The guy in a coma, shifting between cars?

Seems really gamey, not because of the coma, but because it showed a challenger keeping up with a porsche, that's moon made of cheese logic.

Strange idea for a story. The coma idea seems to suggest that the events of the game are a coma dream in Tanners head, which makes it a little demoralize and difficult to be interested in. Especially since you know that fact off the bat that everything is non-real. However I might be misinterpreting what they are aiming for and I do enjoy the retro car chase vibe they are going for so I will follow this with a cautious optimism.

I remember enjoying the first Driver. Shift ability sounds cool, although sounds kinda dumb how they tried to explain the logic behind how it happens...

The Shift mechanic looks interesting but I'm worried what actual effect it will end up having on the game.

Who the hell cares about going back to Driver 1 and 2? Those were PLAYSTATION games. No one remembers anything about them or cares. This game looks like shit. Good job stealing carjacking from that Vin Diesel game.

I have fond memories of the first driver so im not gonna ruin it by playing this

Hey at least they returned back to what it was - driving. The graphics should improve by the time of release - I am hoping especially for the incar view which seems essential in this type of game.

I loved the original Driver but the shift thing is still a little weird.  Still looking forward to it.

I do believe that the shitty civilian character models and the Midnight Club-esque feature of them becoming impossible to hit means no out of car gameplay. No shootouts, foot chases, or car-jacking. The lack of car-jacking I believe can be confirmed by the Shift feature.

Who knew a Dodge Challenger could keep up with a Porsche so well. Maybe it's the coma...

Maybe you shouldn't be driving a car if your in a coma.

It looks like it could be fun.  But then again, every Reflections game since Driver 2 looked like it could be fun.

I wouldn't mind a delay to 2012 based on that thumbnail.

the whole game never happens, it's all inside his head and when he finally wakes up from the coma the game ends and sets up the sequel.

Needs more polish but looks promising.

Gay, if I wanted to play a game as a guy in a coma tripping out, I'd just go to sleep.  No one even remembers the first Driver and people wish they didn't remember the later Drivers.  When I played Parallel Lines, that seemed ok I guess.  And if you ARE going to bring back an iconic character, what's the point if you're just going to say that he's in a coma and the whole game is a dream?  That takes away all dramatic possibilities there could have been.

Yes, the story seems shit. Yes, the graphics aren't Uncharted 2 or Crysis. But you know what? I don't care. Driver 3 was a piece of garbage, but I played the shit out of that game and loved every minute. Also, one hand drifting.
