It's not a proper Endurance Run without the guys becoming horribly lost by missing what should have been obvious.

It drives me nuts when Ryan does stuff like not even look at "Brog's" abilties to see that he has a healing skill.

Well, no one can ever complain about Ryan and Patrick having played this game before again.

Man, I think Giant Bomb might be the largest community of pro gamers on the internet. Never before have I seen so many people who never die or get lost in video games before.

I totally didn't see that canyon thing during the cutscene either because I wasn't really paying attention. So, I guess I'm a dumb retard like Ryan and Patrick.

Make that four of us. I definitely wandered around this area a bunch when I played the game on the DS.

Bilkman is right. You people need to stop being so critical because this is just entertainment after all...

HEY PATRICK, if I tab out some of this, will you actually learn it?  If you say yes, it's a sacred bond.

Apologies for caps, but it was either that or post an attention-getting picture.

So... did they artificially insert the black-and-white background? It reminds me a lot of how XBLA will insert borders to some old games, which is why I ask.

Yeah. They did the same thing for Persona, I think, except on the sides to compensate for the 4:3 formatting of the PS2.

They should have done the PS1 version ... that way they'd get the anime cutscenes too. Ah well

Well I guess it wouldn't be an Endurance Run without all these people raging in the comments about how the crew can't immediately figure something out. I don't know if you guys know this, but everyone gets stuck at certain points in video games. It can be the result of something small like accidentally missing an important piece of dialogue or not being able to find a somewhat hidden area transition, but it happens to everyone. There have been countless times throughout my life where I didn't know where to go or what to do in a game, and when I finally found out I would facepalm. This is something that happens to everybody and you all know it.

There is also the aspect of them constantly talking too each other which can ruin their focus on the game. There are certain games I don't like to play with a friend right beside me as it can be very easy to lose focus on the game and miss something because of small talk. Well I guess it doesn't matter. No one is gonna read my comment and people will just rage the next time something like this happens. Well I can take some solace in the fact that I will be enjoying this while numerous people will be raging. Keep on truckin' guys.

I yelled at them to go back to the castle for so long and had Patrick's EXACT reaction when Ryan found the passage on the right in the Canyon.

It's got really serious loading issues with battle and menus. FF6 for the PS did as well.

"Game, I don't know how to feel. Put on some music... Am I... am I terrified?"

*contemplative, slightly sad music starts to play*

"...Thank you."

heh. Fantastic job, Mr. Klepek. This Endurance Run is getting good. :)

@jozzy: You really should pick it up, it's a true gem. I'm even considering getting a DS so that I can play it on a handheld, even though I have beaten it loads of times.

I remember getting lost at this point my first time in the game. Took a while of random bumbling to advance the plot.

Yep, tried to replay the PS1 version, and holy mother of god. 10-15 seconds of black screen when getting into menus, going through a screen, or anything that requires a load. Bleh.

It's pretty weird, but It's got to be a problem with the port they did. Even if you rip them to an ISO and try to play it on a PC, they're still pretty long, even though there's no seek time.

Yeah, it's a feature! I facepalmed many a time but ERs are entertaining, so no big deal. I always wanted to see how someone who wasn't obsessively completionist like me would play this game.

Things they missed so far (that I can recall) :
Naga Bromide in the cathedral hideout, in the room with three chests (it's the mirror). IIRC some old man with a naga fetish buys it
Took a long time to realize that you find Barle in the same place she disappeared
Brog's comments if he meets Marle
Brog can heal.
Also many Millennial Fair actions (ER 1) that can positively affect the upcoming story section, but that's player choice & consequence

Since this being an RPG, them aimlessly wondering around here is somewhat beneficial due to the EXP unlikein DP... but fucking Agent Honors, yo!

Patrick, shut the fuck up about learning bass. You don't casually play those basslines, unless you consider horrible intonation good enough.

Patrick, big ups for the Crossfire reference. That game had one of the most badass toy commercials from my youth.

I disagree. It has cut-scenes but every time a battle started there was a load time unlike the SNES version here which is obviously almost instant.

this is a really good endurance run so far, a lot more enjoyable and way less painful to watch than deadly prem. It's nice that the game still holds up even after watching HCBailys let's play.

@xymox: I really enjoyed the Deadly Premonition ER, at least the VJ one. I like to see weird, perhaps even bad games, partly because I'd never play them myself. Not to mention all the fun there is to be had from watching Vinny/Jeff/Ryan/Brad/Patrick laugh at all the stupid crazyness in a game such as Deadly Premonition.
But yes, this is also enjoyable.

Thanks to all the duders who link to the next video in the comments. It's really awesome to be able to just scroll down and click for the next video, it'd be super annoying if someone posted a new comment though and just broke the flow
