Ryan said, "What does this button do?". He pressed it and we had a power outage. Thanks Ryan.

@Dogma: I'm with you Dog. It bugs me that Patrick obviously knows whats going on and just pretends like he's coming up with it on his own. (@12:13 they are about to fight the rats and Patrick says, "Oh, those guys are probably just goona steal from you." Yes those rats steal, but there would be no way of him knowing this if he truly "didn't remember)Reminds me of the kid who saw a movie before you and acted like he was "guessing" what would happen next.

Don't get me wrong, I'm lovin this ER; but Patrick in general bugs me. He reminds me of a little brother.

@Wiseblood: I went back and listened to it again after I read your reply but it's (it must be. right? or am I hearing wrong?) Patrick that is the one that tells Ryan to listen and then starts humming the tune. The only thing I can hear afterwards is Ryans wierd ffffssss sound before saying that he believes there is a couple of notes that's familar.

It's not a big deal. I just reacted to it.

@dvand987: To begin with. I am not on the Patrick hate train. I genrally like Patrick.

But yeah... it bugs me too when someone if faking that he is quick/clever or smart. I would much rather have him say something about the fun thing/coincedence than trying to sell us on the idea that that this was the first time he heard it and could identify it in 3-5 beats.

About hte rat though. Didn't they steal something from them earlier in the game? Like a episode before? They ran up to them and stole tonics or something.

Do someone honestly believe that they (Patrick in this case i think) actually heard "Not gonna give you up" after 2-3 seconds of Bobo's theme without hearing about this during the last couple of years on the web? It's quite known. Feels like he acted or could not wait for this song to kick in so he could make the "joke".

Still loving the ER but that one seemed kind of fake. Ryan reaction seemed genuin though.

I didn't know about this, and I heard it immediately. I was thinking it at the same time Patrick mentioned it.

same, so i don't think it's that implausible.

So I've been playing the DS version of Crono Trigger and I've noticed that the translation, while close, is a little different. Some of the things that NPCs say make more sense. For example, no one makes fun of Lucca's glasses at the invention demonstration and the fake nuns in the cathedral aren't as obviously evil.

I played the SNES version back when the game came out, but the DS version seems solid and the text changes are interesting.

Don't know what it is, but I'm just not loving this ER like the others. Maybe it's the lack of craziness, lack of Vinny or lack of unpredictability, but I'm no more than liking this.

Ya I didn't notice last time I played this but watching them play it when that piece of music started I heard it almost immediately and was hoping they would.

I never knew about what the internet did with it. Can't say I'm shocked up though =P

@dvand987: Patrick was referencing last episode when the rats did in fact steal from them (twice)

I'm still amazed this is on the SNES. They really pumped out all the power of that thing. I think this generation will be similar, seeing games next year that still blow our mind graphically even though we've had a long console generation. Oh and good episode.

@Wiseblood: I'm having a real hard time to hear that it is Ryan (I now I have listened to it several times again) that sings in the begining but I can of course accept it without problem. I'm not stubborn and you make a good argument. He also says to Patrick "I'm just saying it's there, man." wich would imply that he actually tells Patrick how it is.

I still having a hard time to believe that booth of them never heard of this song in this context. Well well...nobody can stop the Endurance Run! Not even Rick Astley! ^^

It's really annoying (to me) how they try to pick apart any bit of dialogue in what is a 16-year old Super Nintendo RPG.

"Wha...wait hey! How do they KNOOOOOW that that thing is called Lavos?! They are jumping to conclusions!"

Do you really expect lengthy additional dialogue scenes where they discuss the entirety of their thoughts? It's a SNES RPG, not a PSX RPG.

Of course, they're probably saying stuff like that to try to be funny.

Yeah, just because the player doesn't know something doesn't mean the characters don't (or couldn't have learned/talked about while walking over the overworld map/during a time jump). Not that it matters. It's just that they are going to be BUSY pointing out these kinds of holes.

It is possible to be coherent and explain everything without having extensive dialogue though. Plus, they might not know about the unfortunate translation that this game got which is why the game reads the way it does. Even so, they're just poking fun.

According to the Wiki the original had a less than stellar translation simply because it was one guy who had a month to translate the whole game. They gave the DS version a fresh translation which I imagine will be in the iOS version. I am playing the DS version along with them instead of the SNES just so I can see differences.

I started playing this game after Friday's episode, and subsequently sunk about 10 hours into it over the course of the weekend. I have been following the "replace the first letter with b" naming scheme so far, except for Brobo. He's my robot bro. Also, he's so badass, I kept him in my party pretty much all game.

Can't wait to see how they handle what happens after the factory. So far, that's been the one part of the game where I truly didn't know what was going on. Really cool section of the game right there.

It succeeded, that type of banter is the point of this Endurance Run in my eyes. It is funny. HEAL-THY?

@AlisterCat: Same here. It has been sitting on my shelf gathering dust. This ER definitely inspired a new play-through for me. I'm really liking some of the new interface options, such as removing clutter from the top screen by putting all of the UI on the bottom.

I had zero nostalgia for this game growing up, and usually these type games don't phase me, but I can tell this game is really that good. Plus, the music is fantastic.
