Endurance Run: Deadly Premonition: Part BR-34

Episodes with creepy wall ladies are brutal but I don't know how you can blame Brad the combat in this game is just bad and all the enemies are annoying bullet sponges.

Well, Bradley, if you didn't try to melee the wall ladies like a crazy person, maybe you wouldn't get hit so often!

Considering how VJ figured out the best way to take down the Wall Crawlies, it's just that much more annoying to watch Brad continue to struggle with them. I seriously think he feels the need to fight the game controls, instead of working with them.

Thinking a lot about this I have reached the conclusion that Brad is just not willing to adapt to Deadly Premonition.  He doesn't have to in any other context because the game frankly blows in its execution but Brad is doing no favors for himself after playing the game for more than 15 hours.
 
This however has no impact on his supposed "ability to play games".  Every single other quick look he plays just as good as anyone else on staff or out there in the viewership.  Frustrating moments like wall-ladies are not an excuse to grossly exaggerate how much he sucks at games, he doesn't suck at games.  Brad is rather good at games but just not this one in particular.
 
All he does is die a bit more under camera pressure but his skills are not the problem.  Get that through your thick skulls people. 
 
PRO TIP:  Skipping ahead is your friend.  
 
Seriously so much frustration at Brad fighting the game itself has been avoided simply by skipping ahead because honestly what brilliant comedy is going to happen when Brad is fighting wall ladies and the game?  None that's what.  Might as well skip it.

I don't think he's bad at games.  Does he die often in QLs and ERs?  Yes, but that's quite a different situation from playing on your own, and some people are more competent in certain genres than others, like how someone mentioned that Brad's good at Starcraft 2.
 
His complaints when he fails in DP are the kind of aggravated comments many people make when they fuck up in a game.  The first thing that pops out of my mouth when someone headshots me is "bullshit".  Does that mean I think the game is actively cheating me?  No, I'm just pissed at the current situation.  
 
None of you have any real criticism for his writing, he's a good writer.  He also has interesting and insightful commentary on the industry, even if you think he approaches it from a different level of skill than most journalists.  Surely if that's the case (which I still don't believe), then his opinions and views are in line with at least a portion of the Giant Bomb user-base?
 
All this Brad complaining has really ramped up lately, but it seems like it's more just a combination of butt-hurt over disagreeing with his OPINION of Lost Planet 2, and jealousy that he gets paid to do this and you don't, even though you guys are all "such better gamers than he is".

Why are some people even comparing the reviewing of games with doing an endurance run?
That would be valid only if Brad would take the exact same approach to reviewing games as he does towards this endurance run.
 
Factor in the fact that this is a daily feature, with them playing it on god knows what time of the day. Also, they are providing comments while playing. My gaming skills, if any, vanish as soon as i am in a conversation with someone.  How would reviewing a game even compare to that? His reviews are for one based on an invested playthrough of a game, not some feature that is primarily meant to entertain viewers, rather than provide a sound opinion. 
 
These endurance runs, to me, just prove that Brad is truly a gamer as well as a reviewer, not just one or the other. V&J have spent their otherworld sections of the game by standing a mile away from enemies, spraying the machine gun. That strategy has proven itself to them early on and they are sticking by it, fair enough. Still, seeing Brad exploring the boundaries of the game is something I would not have wanted to miss during these endurance runs. Even if that means that he is repeatedly overstepping them, which ends up with him pulling a 'self'. 
 
The only valid complaint would be that his complaints about the game are largely a consequence of his own stubborness to adhere to the illogical rules of playing deadly premonition and that most of his critique is thus his own fault. But that takes me back to the point of this not being a review, let the man vent his frustration. 

 LOL, I don't mean to be a dick, but Brad kind of sucks. It's irritating watching this endurance run sometimes because of it. Although, that could be easily solved by me not watching it. However, I'm compelled to. :)

 If I had any artistic talent, I would draw Brad and Ryan sitting on the couch with a million Ceiling Ladies hanging out behind them. And Ryan would be yelling "Fuck you, bitch!"

Regarding Brad as a gamer I can deffinitly see both sides of the arguement but for me its good that there is someone who isen't  a gaming god playing the games and writing about them as there are many people who have a love for gaming but not always the skills required to be uber gamers. I see Brad as a proficent gamer and incredible writer and journalist and it means there is a good balance to the site due to the whole GB staff. 
Sometimes I have seen Ryan and Jeff  play and just been amazed at how easy they can make a game seem due to their skill levels while the same game can be infuriating hard for me. On the other hand watching Brad seems to be more real to me.

Brad is so fucking pissed at the game, the wall ladies and the readers. I too have complained at least once about Bradley's mistakes and for that I am sorry. My wishes are that every one extends the same courtesy.

Poor Brad. Somebody needs to tell him to use the shotgun or buy a magnum and use that when he fights those wall ladies. It's getting painful watching him lose his damn mind.

I really hope Brad can survive the rest of the game. I hope that when he hits the stuff that VJ hit today where the camera angle is all fucked up he won't whine for 10 minutes about the controls but just play the game and try to get past it. It's almost like he never thinks he's at fault for anything bad that happens to the game and that he plants the blame on the game just because it's not perfectly made.

I'm never reading the comments in the BR run ever again. 
 
Seriously, if you think it's necessary to be great at games in order to be a professional reviewer, you're crazy. Being a game journalist - or just a writer for media in general - is about having a deep knowledge of the medium, and being able to convey your thoughts and opinions in written word. Pulling off headshots does not make you a games journalist.  
 
Brad is one of the best writers in this industry and he's obviously good enough at playing games to finish them. That's the base-level skill requirement in my mind and anything more than that is completely superfluous.  If you can find any example of Brad's frustration influencing his opinions of a game in a negative way, I'd love to see it, but as far as I can tell his reviews have been completely unaffected by any struggles he may have had with a game's difficulty.

There's been times that Brad's proven that he's not so bad at this game like that time in the Art Gallery basement with several zombies and he took em all out with the pistol without getting hit once. There was also a time early in the game where he shot a barrell and it exploded and he supposedly "forgets" that fact even when one time he had a sliver of health and was meleeing a barrell one hit before it would've exploded on him. Is it really a coincidence that the more you guys hate on his videogaming skills, the worse he gets?
 
He's kind of trolling you guys. Brad likes to put on a show, and I like to watch. Good times.
