What screwed them was not the SLs(not doing SLs when available makes the mid to end game much more difficult), it wasn't even the capsule thing (though they really should have reloaded), it was not getting enough soda to make it to level 8.  Another 75 SPs and they make it to level 8 fairly easy.  Add in some steak and they have their health taken care of.  As it is they still can make it if they start using their ailment causing physical attacks.

It wasn't a single event that screwed them over. They made a variety of mistakes that built up over time.

Wow, that capsule machine screwed you guys over pretty nicely, ha ha. However, as long as you're smart about it you should have no problem beating the dungeon with the time you have left.

- Your first and most important priority is to get to level 8, where Yukiko's Shadow is. Once you get there you will see a save point/teleport point, you should save and take that to get back to the staging area.

-Next is you have any SP left at all and you're not almost dead, go back into the dungeon, choosing to start on Floor 1 this time. The game always remembers the highest Floor you reached so don't worry about losing progress. For this part you'll want to use Slime as much as possible, until he learns Red Wall, a skill that eliminates Chie's fire weakness.

- Now you want to spend as much time fighting these lower level monsters and grinding your levels as high as possible. When it looks like you've reached your limit(hp/sp-wise) use a Goho to leave.

-Only at this point should you feel really safe to leave for the day, and as long as you're around level 15 you should be alright.

-Next day, you want to go to the weapon shop, see what you can synthesize, and for god's sake try to get rid of that golf club. You'll also want to buy mad value medicine. While you're in the Shopping District, swing by the old Velvet Room and fuse a Senri, using the Slime with Red Wall, Izanagi, and Ukobach, I believe. It's been mentioned here a couple times already.

So, after all that you should be able to defeat Shadow Yukiko easily enough, as I did when I was in pretty much the same situation as you guys.

Also, don't worry that excessive grinding will piss off viewers or anything, I'm sure everyone here would rather deal with a grind episode every now and then if it means you'll be able to continue bringing us the greatest feature in the history of gaming websites. Actually, forget that, I meant in the history of the internet.

Yea you've got a bit of work, but here's a bit of a tip. Do not leave the dungeon until you are out of SP. You can always use your SP to heal yourself so don't leave just because your health is low. You can get a lot further than you think sometimes.

What ever you do, don't return home yet. Yousuke has a crap load of SP still left, go to the skills menu and manually heal your characters. Then, its probably a good idea to check for some fusions. Izanagi isn't going to learn any new skills, so fuse him together with something else and try to get whatever skills you want to transfer over. I would recommend transfering over Zio (if the resulting persona doesn't have it), along with rakunda, which lowers enemy defence and is invaluable during any big boss fight. When you fuse a persona, the skills inherited over are listed in red. If the skills selected to be inherited are not to your liking, back out and reselect the persona ingrediants and you get a new selection.

Don't neglect physical skills. Losing 8-10 health may sound bad, but rememer that if you spend 4 SP on a spell you lose 4 SP that can be spent with Dia, and Dia is healing for 50 health a shot right now. So if you aren't against enemies that are too dangerous just using physical skills or normal attacks is just fine, saving those precious SP for healing is a good idea. Later especially when you start to get attack skills that hit all enemies multiple times, you are going to rely on those much more then spells.

Then go back in and try to get as far as you can before you get back home. If you can get as far as the final dungeon boss, great. If not, you should at least gain 1 or 2 more levels and enough money to upgrade your armor for the final day. Make sure to get the TaP soda's as well, thats the machine to the right of the shop, not the one to the left of the shop which takes the day up.

The final boss uses fire. Since chie is weak to fire, its very helpful to get Red Wall (increases fire resistance for 3 rounds). Get this by leveling your slime up to level 4. If you can't cast Red Wall chie basically becomes useless and is forced to guard the whole time during the last part of the boss fight, where the boss just spams fire attacks. Make sure you also watch your own resistances, after getting red wall off switch to a persona strong against fire.

The final boss's helper is going to be weak to ice, so have chie just spam ice on him. You probably don't know this yet, but after knocking down if you hit an enemy with a normal attack there is a 50% chance of them getting dizzy (they start to lose turns). If you hit them with an attack they are weak to again, there is a 100% chance. You do not get an extra turn from exploiting their weakness the second time though. So have chie use ice twice on the boss's helper to get him dizzy, then you can start pummeling the boss itself with her.

You guys are pushing it because of that stupid capsule machine (I had never even tried it myself). If you had that one extra day everything would be fine. Its going to be hard now though.

What did you do wrong?

In any RPG boss battle at least one of the characters needs to take on the role of healer/defender, dealing out the buff and stuff. It's basic RPG 101. Jeff's going to get you both killed with his passive/aggressive play style! KILLED!

Okay, this game pisses me the hell off. There is no reason a game should be designed to rush you. A person should be able to play a game at the pace they feel is comfortable. If I wanted to worry about the weather report and if I have work today then I wouldn't play video games. I'd just leave the house. And if your game is going to rush you, then you can't have a god damn vending machine that wastes a complete day without warning. That is just completely brainless. Why is that even in the game?

And if that bitch Yukiko dies on you and ends these endurance runs, then I'm going to be seriously pissed.  Japanese game design sucks.

Jeff and Vin,

When fighting, make sure you look at your Personas defense and element resistances. For the Knight fight for instance, you used a Persona that had a weakness to physical damage but its very likely you have a another Persona that is strong to physical damage; even a Persona with neither a weakness or strength to physical damage would have been better. Take note of that when fighting bosses.

Milkman,

Trust me, the game doesn't rush you much. Except for the fight against Yukiko, I have always beaten the shadow Personas early and had plenty of time left to mess around.

oh man, I don't know if you guys will be able to beat Yukiko, you still have a few floors.

Tip:  Use MULTIPLE save files.  If you do, and you do something wrong, you have the ability to go back.  I used 10 to beat Persona 4.

Tip:  You MUST keep charlie alive, once he dies it's game over, even if Chie and Yosuke are still alive.

Alright, if you guys wanna have any chance of winning, you need to do some specific things:

Get the Personas Slime, Ukobach, and Izanagi.  Level Slime up to Lvl 7 so that he learns the skills Red Wall and Resist Physical.  Then do a Triangle Fusion of Slime, Ukobach, and Izanagi to form Senri.  Make sure that before you fuse them Senri will inherit both Red Wall and Resist Physical (if they aren't there at first, deselect 2 of the Personas and then reselect them to get a new set of skills.  Repeat until you get the two skills, it may take a while).

Once you have Senri with Resist Physical and Red Wall, level it up to Lvl. 11 so that it learns Media. It's also helpful if you level Chie until she learns Mabufu which is strong against the dude Yukiko summons and will give you an extra turn.

Hope you guys read this. :(

Edit: Beaten, but maybe if more people say it, there'll be a bigger chance of you guys seeing it among the sea of comments.

The game really doesn't rush you at all, only with Yukiko and you should only need about 3 days to clear her dungeon at most. It's for the best really, as you still have room for one more party member in battles. The game tells you that you need to save her over and over again before the last day of rain, it's not like they're hiding that fact.

I'm curious to see how things play out in the next installment. Vinny will have to play very smartly if they want to finish the dungeon. And yes, multiple saves are a must from now on.

I dunno about using multiple save files or going back. Usually the stipulation of endurance runs are that what ever happens happens and you have to deal with it. It also makes it a lot more interesting to watch :)

The game really doesn't rush you. Its more like we were pressuring them too hard to do Slinks, when their natural instinct would have been to go straight into the dungeon every day. Effectively, we made them sacrifice a lot of time in the dungeon in order to get them a bit of a boost mid-late game where you rely on the Slink powers. At the moment though they aren't fusing much so they are at a disadvantage. And if they had not wasted the rainy day here they would have been totally fine with little pressure to rush. Personally I like games that give some sense of urgency. If there is one failing of RPG's, its that even though the ultimate uber evil badguy is destroying the world, you are perfectly free to do any number of meaningless grindy sidequests and there is no reprecussions.

I beat the first boss at lvl 14 on expert by the skin of my teeth, but I'm don't plan my fusions and stuff so I usually have good skills but not always on the best personas. Unfortunately my main persona for the boss battle was weak to fire, so I was kinda screwed over and had to rely on my weaker persona. If you take everyones advice and try to fuse a senri you should do pretty well. I checked it in a guide and it has a very nice fire immunity AND it learns media, which is a target all dia. It should work perfectly to keep the party alive, especially in combination with slime putting fire wall on chie. Remeber to keep those important skills if you fuse slime into senri or something! And use chie's tarukaja (increase ally's attack) on either herself or you, then rakunda the boss (decrease defense). Rakunda makes the boss take 40% more damage from everyone, and tarukaja adds 40% to the characters damage, almost doubling a single characters damage. It works on all types of damage, physical or magical. Tarunda will decrease the boss's damage to you similarly, I dunno if you are going to need it. I definitely did, but I was on expert and I didnt have an uber nice senri with me, so you could very well be fine without it. It wouldn't hurt to keep something with it around though.

The first two dungeon bosses are going to be the hardest, the 2nd boss is particularly bad (one of his buddies, not the boss itself, 1 hit KO'ed me and my whole party with his first attack before I ever got the chance to attack lol) but for the 2nd boss you have much more options in terms of personas, a 4th person who happens to have incredibly powerful fire attacks and healing (you can probably guess who its going to be, but I won't spoil it), and you can recharge your SP in the TV for a fee. The fee is high at first, but honestly there isn't much of a use for money unless you really fuse like a maniac. Weapons aren't that useful, they only affect your normal attack (not attack skills, which become 1000x better then regular attacks really quickly) along with the all out attack (which will be high enough anyway). Armor just isn't that important later really, its like 5% of the damage equation while level and persona resistances/stats are the other 95%. For the last 50% of the game I just gave everyone a special armor I got that gave +50% exp, even though it was 100-200 armor lower then the best I found.

I'm getting the impression that they ether aren't reading the comments or forgetting everything they red. Or maybe they are playing stupid ON PURPOSE so they can just get game overs and quickly end this endurance run! Which one is it?

You guys are gonna get tuned by Yukiko's bird. Next time  don't buy Goho-M's, by as many hp/sp replenishers you can and some life stones or anything else to revive a guy. And Chie is gonna get crushed in the next fight give her anything you can you reduce fire damage. And have "Charlie" with a persona equiped that either is strong, nul, or absorbs fire damage. This is probably one of the most annoying bosses in the game ;)

Here's a Monster Guide for the rest of the dungeon -

Bronze Dice: Weak against ice
Laughing table: Wk to wind
Burning Beetle: Wk to ice
Phantom Mage: Wk to wind
Magical Magus: Wk to fire
Avenger Knight (Will become a normal mob at higher floors): Weak to Hama - Angel can get this ability if she gains one level
Heating Balance: Don't use magic. Just rush it

(Notes taken from Zoel_Giradels FAQ/Walkthrough at GameFAQS)

Good luck guys

PS. If you encounter a +ve king, or a knight and your angel doesn't have hama, don't fight them and just run and then have everyone guard. You just can't afford to burn SP if it doesn't exploit a weakness, and since Charlie's the only one who can deal with the kings and his baby minions, his SP will just disappear and that'll be it for your run.

Why didn't you guys just reload after wasting a day? From the comments here, it seems like this is one of those games where if you make one wrong move, it's game over. And in a game that is already so effing long to begin with, you can't afford to make that mistake, lest you lose your real life to this game.

So if you guys do get to a point here soon where you just flat-out can't beat a boss because you're too low of a level, might I suggest, since you aren't *that* far in the game yet, to start over and play up until the point you are now, off-camera (hell, you could probably record the whole thing for one marathon session and people here would watch it). That way, you can make the "right" choices, and thus be able to actually continue with the game.

Vinny....

before you started this, you should've downloaded save file from Gamefaq and started with new game+ lol

Well good news is, Yukiko is probably most difficult boss in this game (considering the limited resources avaliable and how early in the game it is.)

Anyway, guys you need to learn to grind. Grind lots and lots.

Ya, persona is notorious for having difficult bosses. The final Yukiko boss is so much harder than the horse dude.

Need some good fire-protective accessories, especially for Chie.

I managed to beat the final Yukiko boss on normal after trying a billion times but then  once i got to the next dungeon I finally had to be to just take the bullet and restart my game on Beginner mode. Persona is no joke.

You guys did the right thing being aggressive with attacks in that situation with the knight.

Contrary to what most people are saying, you guys are notscrewed, yet. Conserve your main character's sp, use physical attacks as opposed to weapon attacks and you guys will have a good chance to beat the main boss. While the persona senri someone suggested a while back is the best choice to use, any persona that isn't weak to fire and has the skill "media" will do just fine for the boss.

One last thing: Bosses from here on out will have no weaknesses(in addition to having a passive skill that makes them near impossible to land a critical on) so it's usually best to just use your strongest attack.
