Really wish they'd release persona 4 on PSN so that I could play it on my ps3 as I'll probably never own a vita.

Stoked to see Syndicate on there... it really was a little gem of a game that got rudely ignored.... (the demo didn't help as the underpowered characters made people think the game was garbage with shit gun play)

It's looking more and more as if GOTY is between Far Cry 3 and X-COM

Yeah, but it's not, though. I'll take "seems" to imply that you've listened to Jeff talk about it but haven't played it yourself (not a criticism). I loved the single-player in Most Wanted. Was it as good as Paradise? No, of course not. That's a really fucking high bar though. I wouldn't call it disappointing at all just because it isn't as good as Paradise. I had more fun in the single-player than the multiplayer in both games. That style of single-player racing (getting billboards, smashing gates, etc.) just doesn't get old to me.

But again, that's why I said "not even in the best-looking category." Even if Jeff didn't like the single-player as much as he thought he would have, it at least deserves a mention in best-looking. That game looks amazing.

Yea, I'm going by why Jeff ignored it, my opinion of the game is pretty bad just because it's not Burnout, and I didn't really even like Paradise. I still think the best game in the series is Burnout 3, and Revenge is a close second, then Paradise a distant third just because of the loose structure and lack of Crash Mode (which deserves its own game as much as Zombies in COD deserves its own game. The XBLA Lobster Monster release doesn't count). To each his own though.

I was surprised it wasn't even on the list of nominees when I listened to that part of the podcast, but if they were dismissing the much more colorful and vibrant Forza Horizon because it was "just a car game", than Most Wanted didn't really have a chance of cracking the top three. It seems like it fell to the same fate as Borderlands 2 did this year, it was more of the same, and that's not what Jeff (or anyone on the staff really) was looking for.

Me, too. I only bought Assassins Creed 3, and Mass Effect 3, because I had been waiting all year for both of them. I also bought Dance Central (the first one) because I was looking for a fun Kinect game.

Because of that, I'm way behind on games that came out this year that I've been wanting to play.

Anyway, that was a awesome list, Jeff.

Great to see Pinball Arcade get some respect. I've had a blast with just about every table released so far, even playing on my phone, of all things. Of course, for that I should probably give credit to the people who actually designed the tables.

Yep, I'd like to think that Jeff looked at my list before deciding to put it on his, but it's just wishful thinking. I ranked it in about the same spot as Jeff, but in shear man hours, Pinball Arcade has been the game I've easily played the most of in 2012. It's absolutely fantastic on the Vita.

This is the most unexpected Top Ten so far. cool.

I'm impressed that both FTL & XCOM got love from Jeff. I heard him talk well of those games, but for some reason I didn't see him putting those games that high (XCOM) or even on the list (FTL). Both are some of my favorite games of 2012.

Syndicate is in top 10? I like that!

I always seem to find my taste similar to Jeff G & Creg K.

However, I would add mass effect & hotline miami to the list as well

Persona 4: Game of the Year.

I'm not really sure why people are "shocked" to see Borderlands 2 miss Jeff's list. He clearly stated on multiple occasions that he didn't enjoy his time with it as much as the original, and that he was starting to feel a bit disenchanted with the series.

It's cool to see Far Cry 3 getting the No. 1 nod from Jeff.

Surprised to see FC3 at number one, Jeff seemed most disappointed with where the story goes out of the entire crew. Also, he seriously needs to finish The Walking Dead!

Happy to see Pinball Arcade getting some love. Seriously Valve, you let War Z be sold on Steam but not Pinball Arcade... shame on you.

I was very clear about what I said: I don't care why he's got that game on his list, whether it's because he still manages to enjoy the same old CoD gameplay after all these years or if he is just a right-wing gun loving paranoid maniac who hates all brown people, or both; the point is that I find it astonishing that he prefers that shit to a dozen other games that came out this year. He is welcome to do as he pleases of course, but like I said, it makes me rethink my opinion of him. It's that simple really.

This is why I love Jeff.

He gave love to a lot of the true highlights in gaming this year that will get ignored in favor of big budget mediocrity.

This for me seems to be the way things will shape up.

Given Jeff doesn't even give TWD a shout in his top 11 I have a feeling it's not going to get much traction with him.

I think Jeff is alone in not liking the game as much. All the other four clearly love it as the discussion on best Walking Dead Episode proved. Jeff might be the most popular but that doesn't mean he can outmuscle the majority. Then again Skyrim did that last year. But I think XCOM could be considered a better 'Game' rather than experience like the 'Walking Dead' is. TWD's not so stellar 'Game' parts might be its downfall.

But i think the Walking Dead will pull through. With Ryan & Jeff going up against Vinny,Brad and Patrick << Total Guess. Ryan & Jeff going for XCOM obviously.

Its just a toss up between XCOM and TWD. At the moment i pick TWD. I could be hella wrong though.

Great and very varied list. Fascinating how FC3 captured people's imagination. I wonder how it might hold up for me since it seems I at least have to give it a shot now. Could actually work out since high peaks with plenty of flaws is by no means a dealbreaker for me, especially if the gameplay shines.

I guess a lot depends on what the mood is. If it's a case of rewarding a game for raising the bar, then I'd say TWD will get the nod because no ones really has pushed game narrative like that..well since forever. However if it's a case of game play then XCOM will probably take it.
