I know everything burns in this game, but I didn't think it would apply to the actual video.

As much as I loved Far Cry 3, I think this one is still my favorite. It has some issues, but it's a wonderful game regardless.

Damnit. I won't be thinking of anything better than this.

Video not working on iPad - just like the Californium quick look.

Videos haven't been working on the "Streaming" setting for me either, but switching it to HTML 5 fixed it for me.

Vinny undersold the first Far Cry. It had the stealth gameplay that defined Far Cry, with enemy AI that worked like a squad, back when no games were really pulling off anything close to that. Like it had the whole "rock throw" mechanic. It became something else at times when monsters showed up, but between that element and the tech behind it, that game blew me away when it came out.

@ricky16: What player are you using? the streaming player seems to be broken while html5 player is working.

After watching this, it's strangely similar to Metal Gear Solid 5. And the firewatch inspiration is also clearly visible.

Kinda wished Far Cry wouldn't have toned down the systems for Far Cry 3 ,4 and Primal.

Especially for a game that's supposed to be about surviving as a caveman, Fire and weather effects should play a huge role.

I call for a GBE Playdate on American Truck Simulator :D

Give me one good reason why I shouldn't install FC2 and play it for the next two days.

Seriously though, every game has its flaws, but no other game has come as close to marrying the theme of desperate, immoral behavior to the mechanics of actually playing.

I tried playing this game recently and even though I love it, even the keyboard remapping is nearly useless. I'm left-handed and therefore have to remap most of the controls, but things get all sorts of wonky once you use a turret, enter a car, etc. It uses some of the default controls and some of the new controls, and it's basically unplayable. Sigh.

It's a real shame since I really love the idea of this game.

The outposts were really annoying but this game is still the most immersive and interesting of the Far Crys. Incredible sense of place and so much fun with fire.

A truly misguided game in a lot of ways but at least we got MGSV out of it.

Do it man it was a solid game back in the day.

Yeah, it's not working on iPad, Safari or Chrome. They at least know about the Chrome part, but hopefully they'll fix for all...

As I'm sure I've mentioned on the site before, I was so deeply into Far Cry 2. Then the save bug happened to me about just after I got to the second area and that was it, I couldn't play it anymore. I was fucking gutted at the time.

Far Cry 2 felt so raw, and you really felt like someone trying to survive a shitty situation in a crazy hostile environment that was determined to kill you. I still love 3 and 4 (with the latter being my preferred choice of the two) but they felt really cartoonish by comparison.

EDIT: Okay, I'm half an hour in and I'm pretty sure Austin sold me on starting a new game.

@veektarius: I didn't know that... but hopefully their admins/techies will see this thread and test/fix... and thx for pointing out another datapoint of the issue... speaking from a troubleshooting standpoint, it may be very helpful...

My mind immediately imagined this under a Far Cry Primal ad and I lost it. Austin, you mad genius, you.

Is 'Far Cry 2' the one where a tester supposedly left his/her station for a while after starting a fire, and upon returning discovered the blaze had gotten so out of control it had spread to the bad guy and killed him?

EDIT: OK, I think it is. It almost sounds as if Vinny was about to talk about that — getting as far as "you could even leave..." — before the video and audio cut out about 6:30 in.

What a fantastic outing with Austin and Far Cry 2. I about lost it at the Singh and Zebra part.

Austin should check out Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl with the complete mod.

It's an open world fps rpg that came out a year earlier than farcry2 and with the complete mod looks and plays great.

html5 Version is working guys, video is still slow to start but its running fine

Played the hell out of this game, still my favorite.

Austin is becoming Vinny 2.0, and I am both excited and scared.

@serius: html5 doesn't work with me either. Tried it will Chrome, Firefox, and Safari and still nothing.

This was so good. Glad I could watch it live.
