The praise the new store has received from gaming media types really makes me question their logic, by what metric is it an improvement? They never specify and it bewilders me how people can not understand the Cross Media Bar.

Brad is really hypocritical in this bombcast. The bombcast always has to avoid spoilers for games that are months old because of brad (ME3) but he thinks it's okay to spoil things about DmC the day the game comes out.

@Rahxephon91: Clearly Patrick has the ability to see all possible parralel realities, in none of them DMC 5 despite what logic may dictate. Is there any franchise Capcom hasn't burned bridges on that they have actually done something about lately?

The whole "I can't understand hate for a game getting good reviews" is being willfully dense, if bad games get good reviews then perception of quality can become warped. It's a perfectly clear idea, but I have no personal stake in the DMC series.

The general DMC discussion was thankfully quite good, but I would rather the bombsquad steer clear of being inflamatory or oblivious. The Dust furries thing last year was probably the worst. People are entitled to be put off of a game because of what it is.

I actually watched all of Twin Peaks, for the first time, after the Deadly Premonition ERs and enjoyed it immensely. Not sure how it would've been without them, since I loved noticing the similarities here and there.

YouTube users despise everyone and everything, especially black people. There's a reason Chrome and Firefox have popular extensions for blocking YouTube comments.

How could anyone take the story in Black Ops II that seriously? I respect that we all play games for different reasons but damn, you're looking for a needle in a haystack if you are looking for a deep/clever story in Black Ops II.

Loving the console speculation talk, almost more excited about E3 this year than any games that comes out before that.

Weird...last week they talked about Undead Nightmare and I just bought it a few days prior and started playing it. This week they talked about Twin Peaks and I started watching that last wednesday and am nearly done now...

I find it odd when I hear someone like Patrick (and this is not exclusive to Patrick) who get endless free gaming oppotunities, say "I want to be the type of consumer who encourages paying more for games". 
 
To me this just emphasizes how out of touch with consumers the gaming press has become and how they are putting publishers, developers and the industry before the consumer.

I kinda disagree with Patrick's notion that DMC 4 was not good despite problems with it being repetitive. I kinda liked controlling Nero with the trigger mechanic during combos. It kinda clicked something in my brain and I was really enjoying it.

Also dog food motherfuckers.

I love how they were declaring the death of PC gaming on this very podcast just a couple years back. It seemed crazy then, it seems hilarious now :)

David Lynch was involved a bit in the second season of Twin Peaks. He directed a couple episodes and played the role of Gordon Cole.

The panel really needs to quick look Steam on Linux once it comes out of beta. I've been using it for a while. It's a pretty good Steam experience.

I keep forgetting to mention this. There is a pretty good Twin Peaks podcast on iTunes that is specifically about new viewers. Four hosts, two fans, two newbies; and they go episode by episode.

Also, I actually just had two of my friends watch the series last year. They really enjoyed it. I think, without my input, they wouldn't have taken the campiness/cheesy parts as lightly, but they plowed through it with little complaint, and thought the end was fantastic.

re: Arcades in the UK -

I think I am about the same age as Ryan & Vinny (born 1979) so I'd have probably been into arcades at about the same time, and I find myself surprised of anecdotal evidence that there were "no arcades" (admittedly that is a relative term) here because there were loads of machines where I live, which is an unremarkable market town just outside of Birmingham.

From the late 80s through to the mid 90s off the top of my head I can think of at least three places where their primary business was arcade machines, one near where I went to school and two in the town centre. Then there were cabinets in lots of shops like newsagents, video rental and fast food joints. I remember one summer in particular where pretty much my entire social circle hung around a local newsagents and played SF2 and King of Fighters 95 for hours on end every evening. I'd always assumed this was fairly typical of everywhere.

Coastal towns always had huge arcades, and there was the huge Sega World in the Trocadero just off of Picadilly Circus in London. That place was awesome.

@dudeglove: The building is still there, obviously, but the arcade had been in decline for years and years and the last time I went (probably at least five years ago) it was a collection of shitty shops selling the sort of crap that only tourists ever buy and fast food places. The arcade was a sorry sight compared to how it was in the 90s.

It seems the place has had some investment in recent times though. It now claims to be "the most advanced gaming centre in the world" and seems to have some kind of ridiculous PC/LAN thing going on. Having just listened to this week's Podcast, I just have to wonder if Brad thinks that stuff like "Heaven or Hell" and "Hell and Hell" are things NINJA THEORY came up with for DmC? Maybe it wasn't his intent to come across that, but to me that's what it sounded like. And if he does think that, it's woefully ignorant, because that's stuff that's been in DMC since 3. I know he says he hasn't played a DMC since 1, but Brad, please do some research next time before making comments like that.

(00:52 to 01:14) - Patrick is really overthinking the aspects of COD single player. Most of the people on my friends lists only play the multiplayer and have barely touched the campaigns since MW2. I'm surprised Activision hasn't split the franchise into single player only & multiplayer only versions.

A great show that was blighted with some ignorance spouted about the European video game scene in the 1980's. I'm not sure what Jeff's mental block is with Europe, but it seems to be really strong as he keeps on getting things wrong. He does have an encyclopedic like mind when it comes to video games, but that doesn't stop him from messing up.

The thing he messed up on was the story of Rare. They started out making games for the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad, MSX and BBC computers and were known as 'Ultimate Play the Game'. Just as a piece of evidence, they looked like the image to the left. They then went on to make games for the NES, the first of which was RC Pro Am in 1988.

no offense to the bomb crew but i don't know what they saw in Enslaved, it was a weak story with weak characters and dull gameplay; that and a fly can beat the game in its lifetime and have time to spare

Wow man, that quote was taken WAY out of context, @ProfessorEss .

Patrick didn't say "encourages paying more for games" he said "encourages paying more for these types of games" meaning indies. Try not to be so inflammatory next time. You misquote patrick to make it sound like he supports the price raising of EVERY GAME EVER, when he was really saying that its unfair that some great indie games released on say, mobile platforms dont get their worth because they have to be sold for so cheap to compete. Hell look at the humble indie bundles, how many people pay a shit ton more than the average person just because they feel the developer deserves it?

Cat Food Eating

So I have a true story for you guys... In my younger days, we played a prank on some friends (girls) spending the night. We released 7 pet rats into the bed they were sleeping in. There was lots of screaming, jumping and swinging, and worst of all, one of them ended up peeing the bed... a water bed. Cleaning that up is another story! Anyway, the next day was to be their pay-back. They made up some sandwiches they wanted us to try and we did. Their constant staring and holding back laughter clued us in that something wasn't right. So I asked what was in the sandwich, to which they replied what does it taste like? I said, chicken & bacon to which they let out uproarious laughter. Then they said, "it's liver" that they mixed up with mayonnaise and we were like, "whatever", and ate the rest of the sandwiches.

Fast-forward an hour later and I'm in the bathroom and notice something unusual in the waste basket... 2 cans of chicken & bacon flavored cat food, and there were no cats in that household! I guess it wasn't too bad, and it tasted like the label said :)

Always enjoy these Bombcast's!

Don't put words in our mouths, Patrick. As a "hardcore" DMC fan I will always care for gameplay above anything else. If the new one plays well then I don't give a shit about anything else.
