@jeff: As another fan of Rockstar energy drinks, I suggest trying Rockstar Zero Carb. No sugar, 240mg of caffeine per can, and it has a pleasant berry flavor. It's my go-to as far as energy drinks are concerned.

I'm also a fan of the Pina Colada. Not as much caffeine (160) and its got sugar, but it's quite refreshing and not too syrupy.

As far as Punched goes, I like it, but it feels like my teeth are melting when I drink it. The reason you'll get so amped from it is because it's got 240mg of caffeine and 62 grams of sugar.

Guy Fieri is a pretty decent show host and from people I know that have interacted with him, he's a pretty amiable and nice guy all around. I don't know what people have against him other than enthusiasm and the bleached hair. For what it's worth, that "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" show makes me really want to travel all over America to try great food and he gives people a fair shot, even if he doesn't love everything he tries.

I dunno, there's a lot of douchey food TV celebrities, but Guy Fieri isn't one of them.

Dan's way of saying Epona sounds like he is trying to say empanada. lol. Say eh-POH-na like a normal person.

" [Majora's Mask] is the Blood Dragon of Zelda games" - Jeff

Oh so it's the best one? Got it.

Also Epona is the name of a Gallo-Roman horse god. I don't think the name comes from Pony. I'd wager the reverse is true.

The lighthouse boxes are just dumb boxes that shoot out lasers and the photodiodes on the headset/controllers calculate the position. That is why all they require is power and don't need to be hooked to the PC.

Oculus is using camera(s) to track the position and that's why they require the use of USB 3.0.

1 for the headset

1 for the camera

1 for additional camera for touch when released.

usb 2.0 is for the Xbox Controller.

While I really want motion controllers, it sort of is a good idea not to include it because it keeps the price down for people who simply want a headset for driving/flight simulators.

I'm coming at this from an angle of ambivalence toward Mr. Fieri. He's probably a totally alright guy who just has a late 90's early 2000's look. For that reason alone, he's become the most overused punchline that I've ever heard come out of podcaster's mouths. I've heard multiple internet personalities ranging from big to small; from east coast to west use this guy to take lazy pot shots at.

Jeff brought his A game this week. Had me repeatedly cracking up. Sometimes he doesn't seem fully invested.

Also, I really wish @brad would stop cutting questions off at the knees before reading them with something like "ugh, i don't know if i should even ask this..." it just colors everyone's reaction to the question itself. The difference in energy between presenting something straight and presenting it like "i'm sorry i'm wasting your time with this" is very noticeable. Either read the questions or don't. I love you Brad, and love you as Bombcast host, but that particular thing drives me nuts. Basically i'm saying Brad hates America...unless #skate4?

You're supposed to keep the stones, so the doctor can prescribe a diet that will relieve you of future stones. Everyone is different.

Also Jeff wasn't wrong about the ultra-sound beams blasting them, though I could see it being a problem if your kidneys are like 90% full of stones.

Both my sisters and my mother have had kindney stones, and the last few have been treated with ultra-sound blasting. My mother had some pretty big ones, too. I dunno, maybe they are easier for women to pass than men? Though i kind of doubt the.... exhaust port... tubes are any larger in women than they are in men.

I doubt you can cut open a kidney an pull out a shitload of stones without some serious risk. Kidney stone stuff and teeth related tortures are my #1 and #2 torture scenarios.

I'm glad Jeff has stuck to his guns that Twilight Princess is a completely formulaic Zelda that structurally retreads a bunch of ground from Ocarina of Time. It's just trying so hard to pander to fans and it's so safe and boring.

Also, the release schedule of the Zelda series is just bumming me out. I really don't want them to keep doing "release on a single console [Wind Waker], then weird dual-console release [Twilight Princess], then release on a single console [Skyward Sword], then weird dual-console release [maybe the next Zelda]." It's been FIVE fucking years since Skyward Sword. If the Wii U goes its entire lifespan without getting its own Zelda until the debut of the NX, that's just sad. Like, hey Nintendo, you need to have more teams making some of your games. You can't keep doing the whole thing where the Zelda team goes and works on Link Between Worlds, further delaying the span between console Zeldas.

Jeff's discussion about Primal reminds me a lot of MGSV.

Too easy, too repetitive, too much material gathering, too many copy pasted missions, barren open world, main missions being just as bland as side missions and an uninteresting story filled with uninteresting characters.

Yeah, that's a fair comparison. That game is lucky that its gameplay was so fundamentally enjoyable, because the actual content you have to work your way through is so mindnumbingly repetitive and copy-pasted. Oh really, another mission where I have to Fulton some voiceless NPC with no meaning once the mission concludes? You don't say!

@bisonhero: indeed from a high level view, MGSV is pretty hollow but man does it feel fluid and it play so well that it feels less of chore with the more tedious elements of the game.

Jeff used to be a somewhat level-headed individual, with a cautious approach.

New judgmental and opinionated Jeff I don't like, asserting truly ignorant statements about aspartame with ridiculous arguments, like "they tested the shit out of it". I think Dan, Drew and Brad need to step up and call out his BS. That's just a thing that happens people get caught up in their own BS-rhetoric, but then someone close has to step in.

It took the cigarette industry 50 years of deliberate protraction to admit that cigarette smoke causes cancer. And the sugar industry has yet to admit, that increased sugar content of "ready to eat" products, such as snacks, fast food and convenience products, is responsible for both the obesity and type-2-diabetes worldwide epidemics.

The effin' Soda industry is squeezed from all sides, for causing Diabetes type 2, obesity, Mountain Dew mouth and cancer with Aspartame, which was shown in independent animal trials as early as the 80's, but the Reagan government deregulated the shit out of that. Soda makers would never give up anything if there wasn't enough reason.

Whatever the FDA recommends, goes directly to WHO and many governments save themselves the trouble "If the World Health Organizations says something is safe to consume X kg a day, it's probably safe".

Anyway even if we had artificial sweeteners that were safe in any dose to consume, they still don't correct the morbid habit/behavior of eating too much sweetened stuff, just like vaping doesn't break nicotine addiction.

It's weird to say Majora's Mask doesn't feel like Zelda when Jeff says he likes Zelda 2. If anything Majora's Mask feels the closest to Zelda 1 than any other game in the series with its mysterious structure, strange items, and how you don't quite know where it will go next. Zelda 2 is...not a very good game but maybe could have been if it were made on more capable hardware somewhere down the line. But also Shovel Knight is a much better Zelda 2.

@eurobum: How is it a "truly ignorant" statement about aspartame or a "ridiculous argument" to say that "they tested the shit out of it"? It has been studied quite a bit in peer-reviewed scientific journals and by government organizations as well. Both the FDA and EFSA (EU equivalent) have evaluated these scientific findings numerous times in recent years and have not found any credible evidence that aspartame is dangerous to human health when taken within the suggested limit. The American Cancer Society considers it safe. There's probably some confusion over rodent tests, where animals have been exposed to amounts far greater relative to current human exposure. Of course, everything becomes toxic at a high enough concentration.

Now, of course this does not mean that aspartame is 100% safe, that's quite difficult to prove. We can only go by which harmful effects have not yet been proven. It's entirely possible that at some point in the future it will be proven that aspartame is actually dangerous. But that goes for every other food product as well. Research continues to be conducted on the matter, as it should.

File Epona under "things you learn later in life are pronounced a different way then you and everyone else you have heard pronounce it and fuck that noise." Recent additions include: Zangief. (Seriously, what the fuck is up with that SFV pronunciation?)

I'd be down for a weekly check-in with the Skate 4 Instagram campaign.

@grantheaslip: I feel pretty similar as an outsider to the series looking in, in that, whenever Wind Waker comes up, the conversation seems almost entirely framed around making sure the world knows how much they hate decade-old GameFAQs trolls. Rather than laying out the argument for the game on its own merits, it's just a conversation about how much people who hate Wind Waker are annoying. It actually reminds me a lot of games like Gone Home, where the conversation surrounding it is more about the people who dislike it as opposed to what about the game is supposed to be impressing me.

Aspartame doesn't cause cancer, dude. It has been tested for decades with no negative results found in people. http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/aspartame

Also, the food industry can't be held responsible for people overeating. Their job is to sell food. Sugar is completely fine in moderation. Obesity isn't an "epidemic" in that it's not a communicable disease and is caused by personal choices.

Don't even know why I'm responding to this...apart from accusing Jeff of being ignorant and then throwing around debunked and misleading claims.
