Yeah, it'll be one hell of a spoiler cast if they ever do one. Everyone will have something major to say about the ending.

I wasn't implying that you supported the petitioners (and sorry if I gave that impression), I was only saying that in this case, seeing the ending for yourself doesn't really matter that much. Even if the ending was the worst ending ever, it would, for the reasons I state in my previous post, be complete bullshit to demand that Bioware make a new ending. You can comment on that on a general basis, without seeing the ending, and I don't really see how playing through the game would add much to the discussion. As I understood the crew, no one denied anyone the right to voice their dissapointment by the ending (Jeff saying that a shit would be "more honest" than the ending isn't exactly praise), but just the profound misunderstanding of what a content provider is when making a petition like that.

But I do look forward to hearing everyone's reactions, since they're all (assuming Brad gets a save file up and running) playing through it. I'm sure Brad and (to a lesser extent?) Ryan will be very dissapointed, while Vinny won't know what to say before he has read every Mass Effect book.

really cool podcast. The ME3 discussion was great and made a lot of sense. Changing the ending would be CRAAAAZY. The game is what it is. It could have been groundbreaking and amazing but it wasn't. Yeah pretty unfortunate but oh well.

I played straight vanilla ME3. No DLC, didn't play online mode. It sucked me in for hours at a time. It was a kick! except for some of the weird uneven dialog lines and the crappy ending.

Good idea! The thing is, it's not a matter of agreeing with what the Bombcast was saying, only that saying something is only part of communication. Getting someone to LISTEN is the other part. The sugar/medicine point I made earlier was directly to that effect. IE the poster you quoted might be more apt to listen to the rest of what the Bombcast had to say instead of dismissing them if the base issues that lead to the desire to petition could at least be vocalized, ie the quality of the ending. Given all the Bombcast could give was ~50% of one reviewer (out of at least 5 voices) because he was trying not to spoil anything, the message basically just becomes you are wrong at best, you are a degenerate internet troll at worst.

Obviously not the best way to get a message across. Again my point was simply that THEIR point might be more palatable if some solidarity in issues with the ending could first be established with that particular audience. Now this being the internet, and they possibly not being a relatively representative sample of calm, rational folks, this might not help in the least, but I think you have to at least have that connection if you want your message to travel beyond the folks that already agree with you.

I honestly don't remember much about it, other then it has serious FMV Mission briefings

My understanding of the root of the ME3 imported face bug is that in ME2 they came up with a new face system (along with the face code) and rather than convert an ME1 face to an ME2 face mode, they took a static model of the ME1 face (the same way default Shepard and other main characters are statics models of the actor's faces with minor edits rather than created with the in game face editor) and took the scars off.

For some reason in ME3 they just dropped support for those ME1 static face models. No clue why.

When is it ok to say you don't like this? Is Jeff also a childish entitled baby for wanting Capcom to improve the default gem load outs in SFxT? I mean it's their game. Shouldn't Capcom have the artistic freedom to decide that the default gem loadouts are inferior to the customized ones?

I just don't understand why it's not ok to say "I want the ending fixed" when it's ok to say "I want this gameplay thing fixed". The fighting is the most important thing in SFxT so improving it is absolutely priority and the story is the most important thing for Mass Effect.

If Bioware is going to make more DLC anyway why not tell them "Hey guys I'd rather see this content" instead of just complaining about how shit sucks so bad.

So yeah you are damn right someone who bought Mass Effect 3 is absolutely entitled to give their opinion on what they think should be changed. Does Bioware HAVE to listen to fans? Fuck no they don't but on the other hand why would they ignore it? They didn't ignore people who complained about ME1's inventory.

@randombattle: I think that's a lose/lose for Bioware cause even if they listen to the fans and release ending DLC, they'll just turn around and accuse them of crafting an intentionally crappy ending so they could charge for a better one.

Uugh.. everything they're doing makes sense under the guise of, "We want new people to enjoy ME3", and it's completely terrible. It's just a desperate attempt to inflate your customer base while alienating the people who actually care. Every last thing I hear about this game makes me want nothing to do with it.

I wish I could run EA, I could give them a few helpful hints that would actually make them more money and not make their fans want to burn down their studios. It's just sheer ignorance of the field that runs that company.

I'm really surprised someone remembers Hogs of War. I love that game so much.

Jeff, Thann didn't just sit in the hospital the whole game. It's already established that he has a life ending disease in 2 so it's not in his best interest to just run off to try and save the galaxy...again. Plus he has an awesome resolution both in the main quest and in a brief side quest. I'm not sure if you missed certain scenes or what but come on...

The latest 8-4 Play podcast had a fairly well informed (or at least it appeared so) and somewhat interesting discussion about the Phil Fish comments and such if people are interested.

But ya, it's more of a case that the man doesn't know how to convey his opinions that eloquently or tactfully.

great pod cast, just wanted to say hogs of war pretty much defined my ps1 era gaming, it was worms 3d before worms 3d was a thing i played the shit out of the 2 level demo till the full game came out and then played that like crazy, single controller 4 player rocked our world back there and games of hogs of war were always happening

also it is very world war 2 based in weapons scenes story etc

Jeff's not remembering fall outs 3 ending right. In the old ending Fawkes refuses to go in because it would dishonor you yada yada. In the new DLC ending Fawkes goes in and you live, but Ron Perlman still calls you a pussy in the epilogue.

In light of 3 coming out, I decided to replay ME 1 and am on 2 (almost finished) because I wanted to remember the choices I made. I’ve played ME 1 two times before and decided I’d make different choices, I let Ashley die, saved Wrex and romanced Liara. After getting through a good chunk of 2, I’m glad I romanced Liara because that choice is clearly reflected on when you meet her the first time on Illium as well as in the Shadow Broker. While I haven’t played 3 yet, I know I’ll like it but am disappointed, since it appears that, BioWare kind of let the ball drop on the finale.
