Regarding the proposed California break-up: never trust a business person who is in favor of breaking up large government entities. Giant corporations have trouble pitting states against one another; it's not like Google is going to move to Nevada if California doesn't change some unfavorable labor law. But the smaller the state, the easier it is for business to leverage their size to sway policy making. California's politics are definitely troubled, but handing over the power to big business is not the solution. Noam Chomsky wrote or spoke much more eloquently on the topic but I'm unable to find the particular piece.

Dan continues to surprise me with how child-like he is. Only 2 minutes in he says he doesn't own shaving cream and he used to shave with just a wet razor. Fuck. I feel like the fault is on me for being surprised though. Like obviously Dan wouldn't shave correctly.

Wow, Dan and I do the exact same thing with our 'beards.' I'm far too lazy to shave mine, but, as a teacher, gotta keep up appearances every now and then clip it. But I'm not a crazy person and I do use gel when I HAVE to shave.

TUESDAY!

I keep my beard so I don't shave often but I haven't used shaving cream in years. The trick is to just do it in the shower or right afterward. Is it smooth? Not particularly but I've gotten used to it and I'll take that over the feeling of shaving cream any day. That and for most days I just use my trimmer to cut down under my neck and leave it at that.

So while Dan Ryckert is the enigma that will truly be the end of us all, shaving isn't one of the reasons why.
