As someone who is somewhat familiar with dietary stuff, no one knows anything for sure.

And GMOs aren't necessarily bad.

So, how long until somebody makes a Jeff Gerstmann mod for Fallout New Vegas? I need an Old Man Gerstmann roaming the wasteland complaining about Yoshi and searching for the Last Dominoes Pizza.

If I had to guess it would be because a majority of what comes out over here and is considered main stream (and advertised/promoted) are Shonen anime/manga. Like, for everyone on the staff's sake, games based off of them, which, to my understanding, is what they're mainly exposed to.

I want some snacks, but everything at the vending machine at work is unhealthy! I wish there were a solution. Anyway, I'm about to listen to this week's Bombcast!

@spitznock: Honestly the entire Giant Bomb team loves anime. They like games ( as do I) that are ridiculously stupid and over the top. And that is the majority when it comes to anime.

For those people who are not ribs fans, like some on the bombcast, I'd suggest something similar to my favorite place around here (Red, Hot & Blue) which does a dry rub on the ribs instead of the stock drenching in bbq sauce. Dry rub is just spices & cooking it making them much tastier & not as messy, other Memphis style bbq places might have them. Great bombcast guys!

Dan's stance on food is all the more insane after you find out he had a horrible diabetes scare at one point and his doctor said he could possibly die if he didn't start eating sensibly.

^ I burst into laughter on that segment, given the history and character of the Bomb Squad. Vinny usually brought in a little more absurdity into the ads, which I miss, but they're still funny.

I'm going to guess Goreans refers to John Norman's Gor series, which ran to around 30 books. Some have taken to living the lifestyle described in the books (in which slavery is a common theme).

I got to agree that Dan's high praise for Walmart is pretty embarrassing. I can't tell if he's completely unaware of the criticism that's been leveled at Walmart of if he just doesn't care. Either way would be depressing.

Also the whole "ignorance is bliss" approach to eating is beyond ridiculous. None of that ignorance is going to magically stop the harmful effects that eating garbage has on the human body. Last I checked the number one killer in the U.S. is heart disease brought about in large part by eating mass quantities of junk food.

All that said maybe Dan is just playing all this up for laughs.

My opinion is that they think all anime, or at least post 2000's anime, is all moe schoolgirls like the one in my avatar. It isn't, and really there has been an increase in quality anime that don't follow the usual tropes lately.

In any case, Jeff has put it out there that anime is a medium, not a genre. If anything, that makes me think that he knows way more than he lets on.

You ever think that maybe Dan wouldn't give a shit about the harmful effects of food? Dan's thinking would probably be that we're all gonna die anyway, might as well eat what you like and live how you like. That's a perfectly valid line of thinking, you don't have to be obsessed with (or care about in any way) health and wellness, you can live how you like. If you wanna spend all day smokin' crack, that's your business, you won't find me giving you lectures, you're a fucking adult, do as you like.

@north6: I don't think Dan is playing anything up. He has an ability to believe things that are clearly false so long as it conforms to his world/personal viewpoint. His Dad exhibited this behavior during the story where Dan pissed on shit and his father refused to believe what happened by lying to himself.

If factory workers in Lowell held the same mindset as Dan we would still be working in sweatshops, getting paid in company script to used at the company store and pay rent to the slum your company owns.

So happy for the future that not everyone has the same "ignorance is bliss" mindset.

I have amazing friends just like Dan whom I love dearly and will would never attack them based on their similar viewpoint.

PS - Why does Cannabis get a bad wrap on the show. Plenty of talk about boozing but someone brought up Cannabis use and quickly got hushed up. Is this due to work policy about drug use?

I love Jeff and Brad, but I'm so happy Dan's around to counter their staunch cynicism sometimes. I kind of get depressed listening to them talk on occasion. Love the show still. Don't get me wrong here.

Yup, just bought Diablo 3 and Reaper of Souls on a whim for $70. Damn, buying while drinking. I hope I don't regret this.

Never played a Diablo game before, so this should be a fun experience....I hope....the hype is it real?

I just came here to say that this is maybe one of my favorite bombcasts on this site. Also, JEFF IS SO DARK. Its crazy how he has this wisdom that comes from such a dark place. Its fuggen insane. In the good way.
