Best music will be an interesting discussion for me. I don't notice music in games. Like at all. It's background noise. I guess I would notice if it were bad.

I love coming here and looking at how long the current podcast is. I used to listen every now and again while watching a lot of the video content. I decided my tribute to Ryan would be to listen to all of the Hotspot Podcasts (Until Arrow Pointing Down and then Giant Bomb) and Giant Bombcasts that I have stored up until *eventually* getting caught up. So far I'm at E3 2010, I love anticipating what future podcasts will bring, with the long ones being the best :D. This might be the longest tribute ever lol.

I have a 2016 wish: A podcast player on the website that can do 30 second forward/backward skip. Scrubbing a 4 hour long podcast because you missed a bit is... rough.

I've just started the game and I wouldn't like to get spoiled.

Brad spoils a huge twist during the music category but he warns Drew so you should be able to skip ahead a couple minutes when he does that. I'm still in the best music category so not sure if the other categories have spoilers yet.

@homelessbird: Do it! I've been really enjoying the game, even though it's pretty hard. If the soundtrack wasn't as good as it is, dying over and over wouldn't be as bearable.

To those who liked the Robot Roller Derby music, might I recommend a band called Goose, and their song Slow Down in particular.

Before the comments get too long, let me say - if you're looking for best music of 2015, give Robot Roller Derby Disco Dodgeball's soundtrack a listen. It wouldn't have made top 3, but it's got some good stuff there.

As gets stated every time, music is always the worst category. But really Undertale gets sold short by saying it's just chiptunes. That soundtrack goes places in terms of usage of instrumental mixes and other elements to build on basic themes or show character connections. Not to mention the wide variety of music for the different bosses and paths.

Fallout 4 in Most Disappointing?

I agree with the stuff that is said in the podcast, buuuuut I still love playing that game.

Also, Brad going against Splatoon like he did is almost borderline treason.

WHOA WHOA WHOA! I just got to Most Disappointing Game...and they said RORY MCILROY?! That game was dope as hell! It was exactly what we've been asking for in a PGA Tour game for a long time: Tiger Woods 2004 brought into a modern engine! They did just that, and they made a ton of subtle changes to the on-the-field play that was excellent.

Baby keeps my up all night...I wake up to best music = Splatoon? most disappointing game = Toy Soldiers 3? Super surprised that Rebel Galaxy didn't win best music as I've never heard anyone on either podcast talk positively about Splatoon's music. Most disappointing game is always an odd category...it should have won been won by Destiny last year but I can't recall anyone even having the slightest expectations for Toy Soldiers. I expected Arkham Knight to win though I fleetingly hoped MGSv would win (there was no chance of that).

How the hell is BLOPSIII a disappointment? If anything, Advanced Warfare was another disappointment because of balancing and netcode. Only good thing in that game was the single player. BLOPSIII has the best selection of content in any COD game ever.

If the podcast isn't loading should we just... KEEP PINGING THE SERVER FOR MORE REQUESTS?

Undertale belongs on Best Music... :( Really wish they had listened to the track "Undertale", that song is so so good and hits at the perfect time in the game. I'm with Vinny about Splatoon's, it's neat but I just don't really give a damn about it. Cryptodancer is great but the gameplay link doesn't hold a candle to how Undertale uses its music.

The Best Music part is kind of frustrating me. Fuck all the licensed music of MGS5, focus on the OST, that piece is better then any movie OST this year.
Also; no mention of Witcher 3 and Bloodborne for music? Wow..

I can't get behind Splatoon at all. I understand their argument but that did nothing for me. Old generic sounding music still sounds generic to me, even if its placed as Dreamcast era.

My personal would be 1) Hotline Miami 2, 2) Undertale, 3) Crypt of the Necromancer. A lot of these games suffer from the crew not touching all of the games.

while the music category remains as contentious as ever (and probably always will be), i'm really, really glad they put in the time this year and hashed it out. i'm even glad they came to several stalemates. it's indicative of how subjective the category is.

'luftrausers' got away with murder last year. great song, IT WAS ONE SONG. and the adaptive audio- not so impressive, especially compared to other games that pull the same tricks.

I normally don't do this, but I can't believe Austin didn't bring up Xenoblade Chronicles X. It has bombastic, great adventurey music AND dopey, cheesy proto rap-rock, all of it with vocals that can kick in. The main battle theme is soooooo good!

Not to toot the Witcher 3 horn too hard (I'm elated that it's already won two awards), but it wasn't on anyone's radar?

Geralt of Rivia, Commanding the Fury, The Nightingale, Forged in Fire, Ladies of the Woods.

The soundtrack captures the feeling of Witcher so damn well on top of the songs being fantastic.

Also, my favourite from Hacknet: Broken Boy.

E: The MGSV deployment theme is the main theme from Peace Walker.

Licensed music aside and with the exception of Sins of the Father and Quiet's Theme, I found the soundtrack pretty forgettable. Like the duders seemed to think as well.
