GOTY - Behind the Scenes - Part 01

These are great. Really love behind the scenes stuff. I also love the videos about how to fix arcade cabinets and all that stuff. Keep on pumping these out :) And also random pc games etc. Anything with Dave and Vinny, basically.

So much thought and effort went into these GOTY video's, and it showed.

As someone with merely a bachelor's degree in graphic design, I completely understand how mind-numbing and oftentimes stressful this work can be sometimes. I eventually decided to pursue a entirely different career path because of it, but I still love to see how professional design projects like this come together.

Thanks for this fascinating look behind the scenes. And, damn, it's not that I'm really all that surprised, but if you spell it out like this the amount of work behind such excellent features seems massive. Great job though and good on you for documenting the process.

I just love behind the scenes stuff. More of it, please. They don't even have to be that special, just let us know what a regular day in the life of Vinny looks like, for example. What happens after a QuickLook is recorded, what does Ryan do after the Podcast is finished recording - stuff like that. I'd love to see more of it! :)

Thanks for posting this! I was thinking about calling your guys and asking about this.

I was having PC troubles while all of this end-of-the-year content was going up, but I thought this would be as good a place as any to say that all the effort that went into producing these vids was NOT wasted. I was completely blown away by the outcome and I couldn't wipe the grin off my face while watching the FMV segments. It was truly a perfect set of videos, so perfect that I can not pronounce the word "advance" correctly ever again.

Thanks for a goddamn GREAT year of content, GB Crew.

Luchadeer medal is gorgeous. The first GOTY2011 logo with the tree and the hill is amazing. Please put those up somewhere (or make shirts!)

Wow, what an incredible treat to see their process for this stuff. As someone going to school for animation, it's fun to hear professionals you respect talk honestly about things like cheating a bit on a design when nothing seems to be perfect, being burned out, or not entirely liking something, but accepting that it is a better fit for a working theme.

I had no clue Photoshop was used that much for making videos.

I know it might not be exactly as visual entertaining as this, but I think some videos on sort of how you guys work on backend programming would be neat. Loved the engineering blog you guys did on whiskeymedia.com

I loved this, currently studying this sort of thing at uni so it's nice to see how it applies to the real world.

I wish you guys would of video recorded the GOTY podcasts, would of been amazing :(

Ergh, this brings back painful memories of the hours and hours of work and missed sleep I had to endure whilst putting together my architecture portfolio. By far the most irritating thing is how you think something will take you half an hour but in the end will be more like 8 hours. I admire the effort this must have taken to achieve within that short time frame!

I would pay top dollar for a video series (DVD box set, even!) of Vinny and Dave Teach Video Editing.

Between the Bombcast discussion and the video, I have been loving the behind the scenes stuff. So great hearing about what work goes into all of this stuff.
