You'd have a point if MGS4 didn't exist, with every female character but Meryl constantly showing their boobs, plus the whole Beauty and the Beasts unit. That's not Kojima writing jerk characters, that's coming up with any excuse to sexualise almost every lady in the game.

@terrygoodwin: How about we comment on the fact that both Snake and Raiden have been shown completely nude and that is seems that in every Metal Gear game Snake or Raiden have the most toned ass in existence? Are we supposed to infer that Kojima is gay from this because from the way you look at things he's totally gay or at least bi.

to people defending kojima's overt sexism... why? it's so hugely obvious in pretty much all of his games. he might've toned it down since, say, Policenauts, but then there's stuff like Ground Zeroes still. and even with the silliness in MGS1 he just reduces almost every female character to a sexualised husk of a person. referring to snake as an asshole doesn't excuse the fact that Kojima wrote all of that stuff in there as things the player is just supposed to laugh along at. I say all of this as somebody who loves the series. just wish kojima wasn't such a creeper.

Someone who can draw make a picture of Dan Ryckert's Suicide Response Squad with just a giant fist for punching people about to shoot themselves in the face.

Also I don't remember Mantis being this hard back when I played the game, I don't think Drew realizes bosses get blinky invincibility after taking damage.

I know what you mean. I played that boss recently and Sniper Wolf was way harder than I remembered. If you miss her one or two times, she'll just take you out with the crazy damage she does with her sniper rifle.

This is easily my favourite premium feature. Love the chemistry between Dan and Drew, and the way Dan just fanboys all the time ahaha! The wait between each episode feels so long though ;_;

That "catching up on your last save" text is actually really good game design, even more so considering the age. Brings you back up to scratch.

Somewhat similar to BioForge having a screenshot of each save game when they all played that.

@aeonfell: There's nothing on the site schedule til Friday right now, but I seriously doubt they'll spend the whole week twiddling their thumbs.

Continues to be a great video series. Dan and Drew are great together, just a pleasure to listen to. Drew has come such a long way since first appearing on camera it's really amazing. He was always a nice guy but he really seems infinitely more comfortable and entertaining on camera now, his personality and humor has really come out and he's been extra great in video content lately, Ryan would be proud.

I want to say I remember beating this fight without switching controller ports... I had it on PC where I don't think you could do it, and I remember really really hating the fight... Hmmm

I found the End to be pretty easy. Perhaps I cheesed it, though it wasn't my intention. The Fury sure just pissed me off!

Super agree with this. Those first two episodes where they were still getting their footing on what this series is and is going to be before Dan straitjacketed himself with the, "No hints" thing were amazing. To be fair, the game itself was throwing a lot more info and random shit at them at that point too, giving them more to work with and more variety. I still enjoy episodes 3, 4 and 5 but Dan is suppressing himself so hard he starts in with all the goofy "oh my god" and weird stress noises every time Drew does something even slightly "off."

I prefer the co-host to be closer to Ian from the Load our Last Souls series than Rorie in the same series. You can hold back and dole out information without being weird about it!

I remember this boss being so damn easy, you know why? I actually found a glitch all on my own without the power of the internet, way back when this game was new (on like my second or third playthrough). If you're fast enough to equip the nikita before the NO USE comes up and put it in first person, it will actually lock on to the boss :D Two shots and she gone!

Love this series. I was 13 when Solid came out and, like Dan, it pretty much blew my mind. Still does. For whatever reason, Metal Gear has always been a system seller for me. It's the reason I bought a PS2, a PS3, and MGS5 will probably be the reason I cave and buy a PS4.

Two quick notes:

Was I the only one screaming "Use melee!" during the Psycho Mantis fight? In general, punches are almost always more effective than bullets. Kojima loves his CQC.

When you equip rations to be auto-used upon death, I'm pretty sure you lose a good chunk of their healing potential. When you use rations manually they refill more of your health bar. Although I could very well be wrong about this, it seems so many of Drew's battles come down to a sliver of health and it may make a difference.

That said, keep up the great work guys!

I feel like you're right about rations... I'd always pop one when I was 10-20%ish, if for no other reason than not having to sweat about using other equipment while low health. Then again, I also sociopathically strangled every guard in that game (entire series), so extra food was never a problem.

I DO wish that Drew would find the codec code for calling Otacon though. He's my Favorite dude to call in the game.

Seriously, Those nips are weirding me out

I've been debating picking up the HD collection and Guns of the Patriots for a little bit. I've never played Metal Gear, but The Phantom Pain looks kind of rad. It'll be a bit before I can get a PS4 or anything so I thought about just going all in and playing a bunch of the older stuff.

In the modern society, there's constantly info flowing about to the extend that it's near impossible to not get spoiled on stuff like what happens in the Psycho Mantis fight.

I cannot underline how mind blowing it was it was to discover this stuff on your own. Especially the telekinesis that moves your controller about. It's actually programmed so it moves the controller left and right in the direction that he seems to push it.

And ofc. you call it random when you fail to read patterns. I dont wanna be a butt but i hate when people call something random just becouse they dont understand it.

Shit, somehow I missed this one. Really excited to see what Drew thinks of Psycho Mantis.

"Buttlefield: Bad Humpany"... The hardest I've ever laughed during a GB video. The whole bit was great.

The Grey Fox fight I think broke a part of Drew's soul. I'm not surprised considering how infurtiating it seems.
