I have absolutely no interest in MK or fighting games in general, but this actually looks pretty good, especially the implementation of the story mode :o

I thought video reviews were a thing from the past. Anyways, good review, Jeff. After MK: Deception I vowed I'd never buy/play an MK game ever again. It just didn't feel right anymore. Now I know, I must have this game! And I totally going to enjoy it! But... yeah, it's going to be a guilty pleasure as well.

This looks much much more interesting than I anticipated.  All those modes!  Not a huge fighting game guy myself, but I have to give this serious consideration now.  Plus I have this SF IV stick that's just going to waste.

Since it has a story mode I'm now more interested.  I haven't played a decent story mode in a fighter since Soul Calibur 3.

While "Greatest story mode of any fighting game, ever" might be a bit of an exaggeration, MK's story mode IS pretty goddamn great, and way better than about 90% of fighting games out there.  Maybe this will encourage other studios to put some effort into their single player modes.

I don't consider the animated cutscenes between fights enough to put this MK story over games like BlazBlue and Guilty Gear, who've had extensive branching storylines and multiple endings for every character for a long time.

Like I said, though, the presentation in this game is awesome, I love the new story, and it's miles above anything Capcom has even thought about attempting, so hopefully other fighting games will stop getting away with having such shit story modes.

I've played through BBCS's story and didn't understand a single thing that was going on the entire time(Had to wiki pretty much everything). It might be my own fault for not playing BBCT but still I wouldn't call it good, regardless of how amazing the gag endings are.

I was interested in SSF4 but ultimately decided that it was too technical for me. I was interested in MvC3 but ultimately decided that it was too crazy for me. Mortal Kombat will be my fighting game. I can't wait to pick this up. That Test Your Luck mode seems like it would be hilarious with a few buddies. I know what I'm doing this weekend!

They probably didn't have the PS3 version. Most reviewers get only the 360 versions of multi-platform games early.
