My copy literally just arrived as this must of been going up. I know NOTHING about this game, but I bought it because it said Playable Bayonetta and I needs more Bayonetta.

This combat doesn't look fun at all.

You know, you'd think some of those goons would back off after seeing 30 of their friends being liquidized by a punch.

As opposed to Anarchy Rulz , I guess.

I don't really know what that means, either, but that's because 'beat-em-up' usually only refers to Final Fight, and clones of Final Fight, and this don't look like Final Fight.

I had to be that guy who bitches about how Ryan is playing but...there is more depth to the combat than what Ryan is showing, for sure

Think that without Platinum Games doing this, I'd be less interested in this but looks pretty good.

=( This makes me realise how much I actually disliked MadWorld. I enjoyed it when I played it, but now that I think about it, 90% of my enjoyment of MadWorld was the art style...=|

I am so MMO trained that the purple ray of light in the beginning triggered my pleasure center.. hard.

That single player does have a lot of Mad World in it, with the enemies that really are just there as cannon fodder followed by bosses you have to actually fight. Are there environmental kills? In multiplayer, it looks like lag can be an issue as several times enemies disappeared from in front of Ryan. And BURNOUT may be a great player, but when there are two people on Ryan's team hitting them and their health doesn't even move an inch it's not the kind of game I would want to play. Especially when the other enemies take damage and s/he goes 10/0 in the game and when the health bar at one point did go down slightly it then immediately jumped back up to full health.

So, 16 player Battle Royale TNT?

Not necessarily, no. There are 3D beat 'em ups (or brawlers, however you want to call them), and this one plays like one of them. I guess what they were trying to say is that it is an action game with heavy focus on melee combat, not guns. I see no problem here with their categorization of the game.

As for the music, the impression that I got was that it didn't fully click with Ryan, but Patrick was totally into it. The two quotes were made by different people, if memory serves.

I'm glad this game exists. I wouldn't go so far to say it's for everyone, because it has a lot of hard edges to get caught up on. But I love the character design, even if it's a stretch to consider them good characters per se.

Ryan really should have gotten into a deathball game. That mode is incredibly fun. Also, he totally showed the most boring/worst aspects of this game.

This looks so crazy but 10 minutes in and I'm bored of just watching.

This just looks, dull... and boarding, after playing Batman and Sleeping Dogs the fighting mechanics here just look shallow and dull, also the online just looks like a really bad Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi game where you get blind sided every 4 seconds :/

Isn't this basically meant to be God Hand 2 and have crazy amounts of depth?

When I think of Beat-em-up I think Bayonetta or DMC.

Some quick looks are hard to watch when it's all dying combined with Patrick's incessant and inane commentary.

Forget Quick Looking these boring ass by the numbers games and start cracking in that CD Folder of old school PC games!

My order just got dispatched today, can't wait to play this.

I can't help but think that no one would be interested in this game if the box didn't say Platinum Games. I'll go even further to say if it wasn't a Platinum game I think everyone would be tearing it bits.

Looks like it could be fun though I couldn't see paying 60 bucks for it personally.

(Edit: Oh it's 30 bucks? That's a little more reasonable I suppose)

The problem is that Ryan is playing it. This game has more satisfying combat than any of the games that you've mentioned. This should've been a Jeff quick look.

@joshrholloway: Yeah. It's another case of Ryan not knowing what he's doing, at all.

The multiplayer in this game is fucking brutal. I've suffered a fair bit of what happened to Ryan in here, where I'm just getting smacked around all over the place as my health bar empties within like 4 seconds.

Did anyone notice that the music seems to switch to a track without vocals when the text for enemies comes up and switches back to one with vocals when you go past it? I can't tell if that actually happened or if the two times I noticed it, it just worked out perfectly. Seems like a cool little thing to do.

edit: or I guess it probably turns off the vocals, that'd make more sense. Still neat to me though.
