Quick Look: BattleBlock Theater

I feel bad for not knowing this game existed before this video.

I've waited for this game for years. I really hope it's as addicite as Castle Crashers, which I've played through with four friends more than once.

Watching this QL just makes me wanna go back and play some Castle Crashers again.

Why didn't Jeff play as a guest..?

I'm not sure I like this game.

I love Castle Crashers but this game looks super fucking boring.

Alright, I gotta say it. This Quick Look basically confirmed my thoughts that this game was going to be a boring, if whimsical platformer... but then I went and watched some video on YouTube of non-gaming-journalists (I hesitate to use the words "real people", but you know what I mean) playing the game, and I realized, somewhere amidst all their laughter and deliberately throwing each other into death traps, that they were having just as much fun as my brothers and I had with Castle Crashers back in the day. I had forgotten the focus of The Behemoth is to make their games silly and fun, it was Jeff and Ryan's mostly professional air that had thrown me off. So, despite my comment a few pages back, I've actually come around and warmed up to BattleBlock Theatre. Let it never be said that my opinion is set in stone.

...Although I'm still glad it's finally done so The Behemoth can make something else now.

Is it me or does the game have this massive vignetting in the actual levels that makes it hard to look at...?

it has a stage light effect in some levels, which to me is consistent with the idea that you're in a "theater".
