I like how in The Speed Rumbler, after the purple car crashes into another enemy van, the van that drops your car off runs into a tree and also explodes. WHO WILL DELIVER YOUR CAR THEN?

Name change aside, I really like that game.

These videos being crushed down to 30FPS is only usually noticeable in older games like this, where certain effects were performed by turning sprites on and off on alternate frames.

If anything looks kind of weird, like disappearing rotor blades, that's why.

I really liked Savage Bees/EXED EXES in the Capcom Classics Collection for PS2, especially since it was one of those very few occasions where they had created a new remixed soundtrack for it that was actually better than the original. Not that I disliked the original music (though I know that many did) but it did get kinda repetitive after a while.

Also, there actually was a licensed Mad Max game for the NES that was very much like Speed Rumbler, though I never managed to understand what I was supposed to do in it. You drove around in the wasteland with Max's cool black Interceptor and fought against dune buggies and stuff, but then you ran out of fuel and exploded, and I never managed to find out how to pick up fuel. There were barrels all over the place, but I couldn't find any way to pick them up, and if someone is interested in a slightly newer game of that kind, Grin, the ill-fated developers of Bionic Commando Rearmed created a game not too dissimilar back in 2002 titled Bandits: Phoenix Rising. It wasn't great, but it was more of an open world kind of thing, rather than the battle arenas of Twisted Metal.

Jeff is more or less right. There never was a Commando II; it was just called Mercs outside Japan. The Japanese name for Commando was Senjo no Okami, which means Wolf of the Battlefield. Hence the XBLA/PSN sequel to Mercs/Senjo no Okami 2, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando III.

Bonus: The arcade version (but not the NES version) of Bionic Commando was also marketed as a sequel to Commando. You play as the same guy, "Super Joe," who only showed up as a supporting character in Bionic Commando for the NES.
