Quick Look: Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight

Crappity crap. MAKE GENERALS 2 DAMNIT! And I don't mean "Hey let's fuck up the series", just make Generals 2 with the same engine plus more gadgets and maps and I'll buy it twice.

It's interesting that many are annoyed more at C&C4 not because of the story or general gameplay, but that it's a streamlined take on RTS, and not the classic build base and conquer, yet  C&C3 came out that was exactly the old formula but refined and it still got hatred from the C&C base. Given the main complaint of C&C is its still using the old system of RTS from many, its an odd rage when C&C actually tries to do something different.
 
That said, judging by the quick look, it seems they skimped a bit on the campaign a bit and focused more on said new gameplay and multiplayer. Still will check it out tho, if anything to see how they end this franchise storywise.

Jeff is right, the filmed cut scenes are TERRIBLE. I really hate that in these games.
It doesn't fit well at all and it is never done very well either.

the C&C4 DRM is bananas, pure shit* don't buy this.

The GDI pins that the troops wear look like those wings that United Airlines give out to kids.  Also, I would like one (the United pin, that is).

There is streamlining and there is dissolving.

I'd probably play this if my laptop could run it...and if they didn't have that DRM.

Oh man, seeing this brings a tear to my eye. It's like watching a beautiful giant being slowly murdered because those in control of it cant comprehend its beauty. With the exception of Generals, which i never fully appreciated until years after it's release because i couldn't get past the idea of it not following the traditional Kane story, everything EA has ever done with the CnC brand has been garbage. Each game was worse and worse then the one before it, culminating in this. 
 
Breaks my heart to see one of the greatest franchises in video game history be reduced to this. It's a travesty to see such a venerable series of video game history be systematically destroyed in the name of share holders.

Shame how this turned out. I'm a classic C&C fan and it's been kind of heartbreaking to see the series go downhill ever since Generals.

It seems like they went for a Stargate SG-1/Battlestar Galactica vibe with the tone of the FMVs.

The first C&C was great back then - this is just crap

I liked the Generals/Zero Hour and Red Alert universes (YES! Even Red Alert 3, you haters!) but this has fallen too far from it's roots I'm afraid.
I would love to hear how the story ends, but I'll just wikipedia the story to know how it finally ends.

I've always hated live action cutscenes in video games since the first Resident Evil. Capcom learn't their lesson pretty quickly, it just clashes with the games graphics.

I really liked C&C3 it was good classic C&C but this... i played the beta and thought why am i playing this when i have Dawn Of War 2 installed, and I hate comparing them.  Thats why i liked C&C3 it felt like they were just saying screw what others have done to the RTS genre were making a classic C&C game. 
 
Well it had to end some way... back to playing the old games.  I got a present for you, That was left handed.

Beat it. Haven't liked the new artistic approach since they first showed it, and the gameplay didn't come in as any redeeming factor at all. I'd rank the Tiberium games something like 2>3>1>4.

Just saying I'm not watching this quick look...played the beta for 2min and completely uninstalled the piece of garbage. It sucks and showing this in a quick look makes the quick look suck!

I will play this for the story only.. Not that im even sure that is worth it.. Been at it for 2 hours and i dont really want to continue..

Red Alert 3 was fantastic in my opinion it was the most extreme by far and my fav of the series, i have been looking forward to this but i gota same them cut scenes look a bit lame even for c & c. i still gota play it the crawler idea looks good altho this was pretty much done in red alert il have to wait and see tho cos ive got a few games to complete before this one,,, n1 for the quick look guys i apreciate it !!!

i never really liked C&C to begin with(cause i suck at RTS's and i dont have that much patience) but this does look SUPER BORING. so fuck this game

EDIT: Thank god I took the time to watch this before buying.  This looks like a rushed poorly made World in Conflict mod.  Think I'll get supreme commander 2 instead.

As a big fan of C&C since the first game. I loved C&C3 and Kane's Wrath and played them to death. This game looks so much worse in every way to C&C3 it isn't funny. The gameplay is shallow and not as fun like I feared. Graphics are the same. The music has changed to a pretty boring "epic" theme. The acting sucks and the whole tone is too serious. Tiberium has always had kind of a serious tone but like Predator it's serious but it also is just a lot of fun, hammy acting and over the top moments which make it awesome. Now it's just like some B-grade TV movie garbage. It also sucks it has no name actors now too.  TS had Michael Biehn and C&C3 had a whole list of sci-fi actors out of shows like Star Wars and Battlestar. Even the expansion had actors and a fantastic job by Carl Lumbly. This has bottom of the acting barrel nobodies.

Agree with Jeff, this sums up my C+C4 experience totally, and the skirmish interest dies off quick!
3 on 3 classic or C+C3(tibiruium) was much more fun. 
The units have no real value, I dont understand how capturing points and gaining points really wins a battle if GDI and NOD have an infinite supply of Walkers.
Harvesting Tibirum is pointless and a joke.. EA just need to either drop the franchise or give it to someone who cares about releasing a real title.
